I recently had the most unforgettable weekend at a charming inn near Antietam. The weather was perfect, and we were warmly greeted by our guide, Chris, who also happened to be our innkeeper. The General's Quarters had a large, original cooking fireplace and plenty of space, but we couldn't resist spending most of our time on the porch. The breakfasts were amazing, with fresh fruit and homemade scones that were to die for. The innkeepers were friendly and knowledgeable about the area, and the location was just a short distance from the battlefield entrance. I highly recommend this inn for a lovely slice of American and Civil War history.

Beautiful breakfasts, charming hosts, informative evening talk, learned audience, delicious cookies. Prime location near Antietam battlefield and historical towns. Well-maintained building and grounds. Quiet and serene. Great for biking with nearby C&O canal towpath and national parks in Harper's Ferry and Antietam. Close to Farmer's Markets and lovely walking tour in town. Helpful hosts with knowledge of local history and options. Enormous room with comfortable 19th-century furniture and superb bedding.
