During my recent stay at The Shire in Woodstock, I was impressed with the spacious rooms and the great location. The room had a wonderful view of the river, and I loved sitting in the comfortable armchairs while admiring the scenery. The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk away from all the stores and cafés in the area, making it easy to explore the town. I had a pleasant experience at The Shire and would recommend it to others.

We loved the cleanliness of the hotel and its facilities. The rooms were nicer than expected and very clean. The beds were comfortable, and the shower pressure was great. The towels were soft and luxurious. The hotel staff were friendly and provided helpful suggestions for local restaurants. The hotel's location, right next to the river and opposite a supermarket, was convenient for picnics and exploring the town.

The Shire Woodstock exceeded our expectations in many ways. the location of the hotel is wonderful, overlooking the river and just a short walk into town. The views of the river from our room were absolutely beautiful, and we loved being able to hear the gentle murmur of the Ottauquachee River as we fell asleep. Secondly, the staff at this hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the welcoming front desk staff to the prompt room service, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay. Lastly, the basic amenities provided were great. We appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea available in the common areas, as well as the refrigerator in our room for storing snacks and drinks. The Shire Woodstock provided great value for money and a memorable experience.

All was perfect, no improvements needed.

As young people, we loved the modern and well-equipped facilities at The Shire Inn. The corner room on the ground floor gave us a double aspect view of the picturesque river and countryside. The staff were friendly and provided great recommendations for sightseeing and dining. The free coffee and tea making facilities on the 2nd floor were a nice touch.

Felt like being home, no complaints.

Excellent location by the river. On-site Adirondack chairs to soak up the stunning scenery. Rooms are clean and comfortable with helpful staff. I reported a flickering light which was fixed promptly. I would recommend this hotel.

I had a wonderful stay at The Shire! The hotel is located in a charming New England village, right by the river. The property is beautiful, with rocking chairs and picnic tables where I could relax and enjoy the view. The rooms were cozy and clean, with comfortable beds and a nice New England decor. I loved the personal touches, like the handwritten note and treats for my dog. The toiletries provided were all natural and smelled great. The heater worked well and kept the room warm during the cold weather. I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend The Shire for a peaceful getaway.

The rooms at Shire were spacious, clean, and had a beautiful view of the river. Despite the lack of a coffee maker and kitchenette, the overall experience was great. The town itself was charming, with a lovely park trail leading to Mount Tom. I would recommend this hotel for its location and comfortable rooms.

I loved the location of this hotel, as it was conveniently located near the village center and within walking distance of stores and eateries. The bed in my room was extremely comfortable, and I appreciated being upgraded to a room with a river view and doors that opened out. It was a nice touch to have screens on the doors so that I could enjoy fresh air at night. The staff, Amy and Barbara, were also helpful and friendly during my stay.

My experience at this hotel did not meet my expectations. The room I stayed in was old and dingy, not at all like the photos on their website.

I stayed at The Shire for a weekend getaway and it was perfect. The room with a fireplace was nicer than the overall property. The working fireplace added to the ambiance and took the chill of the autumn evening. I also loved the walk-out patio that overlooked a river, providing a beautiful view of the migrating Canadian geese. The room was really large and had all the amenities I needed, including a comfortable bed. The location was conveniently close to restaurants and shopping, with a grocery store just across the street.

We enjoyed complimentary tea and coffee available at the upstairs balcony overlooking the river. The location was great for exploring the town – just a short walk to shops and restaurants. We also liked the private parking available right outside our room, which made it very convenient.

The room was overall clean, but it could have used a little more attention to detail, as there were dead insects in a few places. Housekeeping could also use some improvement as they were a bit annoying and not very polite when they came early in the morning, even when we asked them to come later.

The only thing that could have made breakfast better was a wider variety of options on the menu.
