So, I recently spent some time at this hotel and let me tell you, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The first thing that stood out was the family room I had – it was actually really nicely renovated! There was a lovely lounge area with a full kitchen. The kitchen was pretty well-equipped with cookware and kitchen utensils so I could whip up a quick meal if I wanted. It even had an electric kettle for my morning coffee, which I definitely appreciated. But, man, there were definitely some downsides. The air conditioning was practically nonexistent – just one of those small units that didn’t seem to do much, especially during the hot weather. I do love having a dining table to sit at, but the one there felt a bit cramped in the space. It would have been nice to have a bit more room. Now, onto the cleanliness—yikes. There were layers of dust on the floor, and it was kinda gross, honestly. I even found a couple of toenails and fingernails lying around which made me raise an eyebrow. The bathroom was a letdown too; the window sills were thick with dust and the ceiling paint was peeling, which really gives off a neglected vibe. On the upside, I found the staff to be super friendly and helpful. The bar and bistro downstairs had fantastic meals. I couldn’t believe how good the food was considering the state of the room! I really enjoyed the flat-screen TV, but it had this awkward tape job holding it together—just a little reminder that things could use some maintenance. And, oh man, the soundproofing was non-existent! Between the conversations from the shared wall and the patrons outside smoking and being loud in the early hours, I was tempted to invest in some ear plugs. As for the hot water in the shower, it was like a game of roulette – one moment it was steaming, the next it was ice-cold. A bit of a shock for someone trying to drown out the noise and wind down after a long day. Finally, not having wifi was a bummer, but thankfully I was prepared for that since I knew it coming in. Parking was okay, even though it was a bit of a walk from the main entrance. All in all, the location in the heart of town is great for getting around, but just wish the accommodations matched up to the potential. Definitely some big areas that could improve with some effort!
