The location is fantastic, as it is right next to the St Peter's Canal. This allows for easy access to beautiful views and walks along the canal. it is a short distance away from the tavern, providing a quieter and more peaceful atmosphere. the hotel is conveniently close to everything, making it easy to explore the surrounding area.

We LOVED this place! Stayed for 3 nights and had time to explore. Location was terrific. You could walk into "town" and into the park that had walking trails. All the walking trails, including the beautiful Coastal Trail, were right there. They had kayaks for rent on the property as well as Capt Greg's sailboat for a delightful private sailing trip on the lake right next door, which we greatly enjoyed. Our particular room didn't have a water view but it was fine and really didn't matter. We didn't hear any noise at night despite it being a motel. The staff were terrific and the restaurant for dinner was the best in town. Stick with the seafood: fresh lobster, scallops, salmon. Great salads and appetizers. Fabulous ginger steamed mussels. There were nice wine choices as well. The Jost chardonnay is a great one. On most nights, there was local music with fiddlers, guitarists, etc and the bar was hopping. You really never had to get in a car. We did, however, drive to some great places: Rita's Tea Room on Big Pond and the Point Michaud beach which had surfers. We really loved this part of Cape Breton and enjoyed the history of the canal, the people, and the little museums. The MacCaskill Museum of nautical photography is not to be missed. St Peters is a real gem. P.S. There is a soft ice cream stand just a short walk down the road that has amazing flavors; another thing not to be missed! 100% recommend this hotel.
