We stayed at Hestheimar in Hella for a weekend getaway to see the northern lights and it exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect, secluded enough to get spectacular views of the lights, and the cozy atmosphere made us feel right at home. The spotlessly clean bathroom was a plus, as were the provided games for entertainment. The living room/eating area was spacious and filled with books and art, and the large windows provided a panoramic view. We loved the geothermal heating system in the room, and the breakfast and dinner options were delicious and homemade. The staff were extremely helpful and the horseback riding option was a great addition. We will definitely be coming back to this special place.

The location is also convenient, being close to the bus terminal in Hella where many tour buses depart from. The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, providing a cozy retreat after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast is delicious with a variety of options to choose from.

The restaurant was closed, forcing us to travel to Selfoss for dinner.

I recently had a great stay at a rural hotel just outside of the main center. The location was perfect, nestled in the countryside with stunning views of the surrounding area and horses. The hotel's attention to detail was impressive, especially in the cottages where I stayed. The rooms had private bathrooms with a nice view, and the bunk beds added a unique touch. Additionally, the hotel offered the exciting opportunity of horse riding, which was a highlight of my trip.

All in all, my experience at this hotel was fantastic and I couldn't find anything to fault.

I was able to cook thanks to the fully stocked kitchen. And the best part was being able to interact with the horses on the farm. It was truly an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to come back and stay longer!

While the initial encounter with some staff members might have been off-putting, we found the later interactions with the owners to be quite pleasant and accommodating.

We had a fantastic stay at Hestheimar! The hosts were friendly and the information in our room was helpful. The property felt like home, with tidy rooms and comfortable beds. The organic shampoo and shower gel smelled wonderful. The geothermal heating, including the outdoor tub, was a great touch. The hotel's location just outside of town made it peaceful and serene. The living area had a beautiful view and the coffee machine made a decent cappuccino. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and homemade. The staff was extremely helpful during our winter stay. We can't recommend this hotel enough!

The cottages at this horse farm were absolutely charming and cozy, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. We loved being able to cook in the well-equipped kitchenette, and the location was perfect for exploring nearby attractions such as Thingvellir National Park and Gulfoss. Plus, we had the opportunity to go horse riding, which was a fantastic experience.

One minor drawback was that the blinds in the cabin didn't fully block out the outdoor lights, which meant that some light seeped in during the night. This could be improved by installing timers for the outdoor lights, especially for guests who are hoping to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

The beds were comfortable and the room had great views. the hotel was located close to a popular attraction and there were horses nearby.

The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. There was no effort to make us feel welcome or comfortable.

Our stay at Hestheimar was a true highlight of our trip. The homecooked meals were excellent, and the staff was friendly and engaging. The horse tour led by Laura was absolutely fabulous - they truly love their horses here! The bucolic country setting and quaint cottages added to the charm. We also enjoyed the hot tub with its beautiful sunset view. A great place for a little detox, with exciting landmarks nearby.
