Beautiful traditional kimono-clad staff, who serve you freshly brewed tea upon arrival. Kaiseki dinner and Japanese-style breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious, with lots of mini dishes to try. Futons were surprisingly comfortable and there was ample space for luggage. Conveniently located near historical sites and public transportation. Staff were helpful despite language barriers.

As a satisfied traveler, I had a wonderful experience at Gion Yoshiima. During my stay in Kyoto, I was fortunate to spot a maiko/geisha walking in the street near the hotel. The staff at Gion Yoshiima were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and had spacious rooms with comfortable futons. I opted for the Japanese style breakfast, which was both beautiful and delicious. Additionally, Yoshiima invited us to take part in a traditional tea ceremony, which added to the uniqueness of our stay.

A truly enchanting stay! We were captivated by the historic charm of the property, which dates back centuries. Our room, once frequented by geisha, was surprisingly comfortable with cozy tatami mattresses and buckwheat pillows. The innkeeper was delightful, guiding us to our spacious room and providing helpful recommendations. Breakfasts were a delight and the in-room shiatsu massage and private bath were divine. The location, just minutes from the station in the Gion District, was perfect.
