I had a fantastic experience staying at the hostel 1914 in Hakone. the host, Kana, was incredibly welcoming and provided us with valuable tips on local attractions. the location was perfect, with plenty of bakeries, cafes, and restaurants nearby. there was a 24-hour convenience store just a short walk away. the hostel itself, although in an old building with thin walls and only one shower, was clean and had everything we needed. Kana went above and beyond to ensure our stay was magical and memorable. I highly recommend staying at this hostel.

The futon in our room was super comfortable, providing us with the best sleep we had in Japan. The location was also perfect, just a short walk from the train station. We were blown away by the helpfulness of the staff, who gave us great recommendations for dinner at a nearby inn with private onsens. Additionally, the bakery across the road was a delightful treat. we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this hostel.

The double bed in our mixed dorm was incredibly comfortable, and the blankets were nice and cozy. the staff at Hakonehostel1914 were incredibly welcoming and friendly, with one staff member speaking great English and another making an effort to communicate with us in English. They even invited us to have lunch with them! the location was perfect for a day trip to Hakone and an evening visit to an onsen nearby. we were impressed with the cleanliness, comfort, and helpfulness of the staff at this hostel.

The location of this hostel is excellent. With several bus stations nearby and a train station just minutes away, getting around is a breeze. There is even a bakery across the road, perfect for grabbing a quick snack. The hostel itself is charming and filled with classic old-style guesthouse vibes. The beds are spacious, almost able to fit two people, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep.

Restaurants in the area close early, so it's important to have some food ready or take advantage of the instant noodles available for purchase at the hostel.

As women traveling alone, we loved the warm welcome from the hostess and the spacious private room that was offered to us. The manager, Kana-san, went above and beyond to help us with our travel plans and even took us to see the sunrise and breathtaking views of Fujisan and Lake Ashi. The hostel itself is a special place, with its historic building and memorabilia from the past. The staff was extremely helpful, assisting us with reporting a lost pass and providing suggestions for our itinerary. the hostel provided a comfortable and welcoming environment for solo female travelers.

I recently stayed at a lovely hostel in Hakone and had a fantastic experience. The host at Hakonehostel1914 was absolutely amazing. She provided us with tons of great advice, made restaurant and private onsen bookings for us, and even helped us understand how the shinkansen works. The room was lovely, with a great view from the balcony even with bad weather. The overall atmosphere was calm and peaceful, making it a perfect place to relax. I would stay at this lovely hostel again and again! The hostess, Kana, was the nicest, most welcoming and helpful lady you'll ever meet. She went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. I recently stayed at this lovely little hostel in Miyanoshita for a few nights. The host was incredibly friendly and eager to help with anything related to my stay or trip. The Japanese room had an authentic feel to it and the futons were very comfortable. The location was perfect, right in the middle of popular sightseeing spots and with a convenience store and bus stop nearby. I also loved the fact that there was a bakery just across the street!
