The traditional Japanese room was cozy and filled with culture, adorned with tatami mats and the scent of wood. I immediately felt at ease and immersed in the authentic atmosphere. The separate showers had strong water pressure, which was a pleasant surprise considering the height of the guesthouse. The staff at the guesthouse were incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome, even being able to communicate in English. The cafe at the entrance served exceptional beverages, and my cinnamon tea latte was perfect for warming up on a cold rainy day. I had a wonderful experience at Guest House Miharashi-Tei and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a traditional yet comfortable stay in Onomichi.

The only drawback I would mention is the accessibility of the guesthouse. The 360 steps up to the property may be challenging for some individuals, especially if they have heavy luggage.

I had such a wonderful stay here! The view from the hotel was absolutely breathtaking, easily the best in the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel so welcome. The atmosphere of this place was warm and inviting. The hotel facilities were great, with good wifi and comfortable bedding. The location was perfect, nestled near some of the best temples in the area and surrounded by stunning stone streets to explore. If you're arriving by train, the walk up to the hotel is beautiful, but if you have heavy luggage, I'd recommend taking the ropeway up before 5pm. this hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of cleanliness, staff, location, and facilities.

Staying at Guesthouse was like staying at a friend's house. the staff were friendly and engaging, sharing stories about the history of the town and their self-funded projects to restore old houses around Japan. the facilities were clean and tidy, and the traditional Japanese experience of making your own bed added to the cultural immersion. the highlight, however, was the host and his family, who treated me like their own. I can't wait to return next year.
