We had an excellent stay in this traditional ryokan. The location was convenient, with shops and a drugstore just down the street. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, even arranging transportation to the snow monkeys and to/from the train station. The rooms were traditional and comfortable, and the breakfast and dinner were amazing. The service was top-notch, with the staff going the extra mile to take care of us, even during a snowfall delay.

Some other ryokans have separate sitting areas, which would have made the room more comfortable.

The location of the ryokan is ideal, as it is surrounded by the beautiful snow-covered mountains where the famous snow monkeys reside. It's also conveniently close to the Shibu Wagobashi bus stop, making it easy to explore the area. The rooms are clean and comfortable, providing a cozy space to relax after a long day. The staff's attentive and friendly service truly enhances the overall experience.

It would have been nice to have more modern amenities, such as comfortable western chairs, instead of the traditional seating arrangements.

A magical Japanese experience, like paradise. The staff gave us a five-star treatment, from picking us up at the train station to dropping us off at the snow monkey park. Wearing yukata while using the onsens made it unforgettable. Two nights weren't enough. highly recommended.

Additionally, the breakfast provided is delicious and adds to the overall enjoyable stay.

Spent Xmas in a traditional Japanese accommodation, with a great view of the snow-covered town. Enjoyed the free shuttle service to the Snow Monkey Park and hot springs to relax. the food was diverse and tasty and the staff was friendly and helpful.

The traditional Japanese room was too minimalistic for my taste, with no chairs or tables other than a low table to have dinner on the floor. the private hot spring was small and on the roof, with no elevator access.

our overnight stay in yamanouchi couldn't have been better. staffs at suminoyu were incredible - friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond. the food was absolutely delicious, the location was perfect, and the views from the rooftop onsen were breathtaking. a truly wonderful experience that exceeded all expectations.

We had an exceptional stay at this ryokan in an onsen town. The location was perfect, with nine soto-yu baths within easy walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff provided attentive and friendly service. The breakfast and dinner included in our stay were delicious and filling. We especially enjoyed the outdoor rotemburo bath while snow fell around us.
