We had an amazing stay at Merici Hotel. the location, with a gothic church nearby and the original structure of the building being a former nun's boarding house, was breathtaking. the quiet surrounding and the beautiful Grand Place made us feel like we were transported back in time, like being in an open-air museum. the impressive wooden stair in the center of the hotel added to the charm. the room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice couch and chairs to relax in. the restaurants within walking distance offered varied and great quality food. we were impressed with the hotel's stunning architecture, excellent staff, and enjoyable surroundings.

Additionally, the central location of the hotel allowed us to easily explore the old city of Sittard and visit nearby castles. we highly recommend Hotel Merici for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Although the town square and gardens were pretty, and the staff were excellent, the hotel was somewhat of a disappointment during our romantic escape. the room was comfortable enough, but one of the worst aspects was the steep cost of 20 euros for a continental breakfast that offered very little. the bar was friendly, open till late, and offered good service.

The parking was expensive, leading through a civic car park to the hotel carport, being charged a total of 20 euros per night. the worst aspect of our experience was the noise level in the poorly insulated room - we could hear guests throughout the corridor, those in the nearby courtyard, and even people in the lobby waiting for the elevator.
