the little red schoolhouse was an absolute joy to stay at during our summer holiday in oamaru. the attention to detail both inside and outside the property was impressive, with lovely little touches everywhere. we loved collecting fresh eggs from the hens and picking vegetables from the organic garden. such a peaceful and relaxing spot!

Heaters made a big difference, but it was a little chilly overnight.

Our stay at the Little Red School House was absolutely delightful. The cozy cottage had all the amenities we needed, including a stove hob, kettle, and toaster. We loved the little touches like the child's school desk as a bedside table and the school ruler as part of the skirting board. The separate bathroom was spacious and the outdoor seating on the deck provided the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. The farm walk offered stunning views and the friendly chickens added to the charming farm atmosphere. The hosts were lovely and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast options were generous, the bed was comfortable, and the updated bathroom was a nice touch. We also enjoyed lounging on the sofas on the deck, overlooking the spacious outdoors. The remote and peaceful location made for a relaxing getaway.

One drawback was that it got very hot on the deck and an outdoor umbrella would have been beneficial. Additionally, being a historic building, it could get drafty during high winds and the pipes would freeze in winter, requiring a bit of extra time to defrost.

I had such a wonderful time at this charming bed & breakfast. The kitchen area was a delight, well-equipped and beautifully designed. I enjoyed the selection of cereal, coffee, and delicious bread with various condiments. The farm setting was a highlight, with the option to gather fresh eggs and veggies. The Schoolhouse itself was adorable with its red exterior and a chalkboard on the red interior door displaying its name. The peaceful drive along country roads only added to the experience. The hosts were lovely and helpful, making the stay even more enjoyable. The location was remote and provided a serene atmosphere. it was the perfect farm stay with thoughtful touches, a cozy kitchen, and a comfortable bed.
