The location of the hotel, opposite the railway station, is in a lovely area that adds to its charm. The staff at the hotel provide excellent service, making guests feel welcome and attended to. The rooms are comfortable with spacious bathrooms, including a shower, and a double bed.

All aspects of the hotel were satisfactory and there were no major issues.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel in a historical monument in a small town with a rich history. The location in the historic part of town, specifically the station and the manor house where Lord Milner stayed, was absolutely charming. The staff were wonderful, providing excellent service throughout my stay. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, with the added bonus of a veranda or balcony offering beautiful views of the distant hills. Breakfast at the Coffee House was included and the scones were a delightful treat. I cannot wait to return to this peaceful and unique gem.

What a charming experience during Christmas time! the facilities were great and we particularly enjoyed the guided tour and the red bus. the town itself is a fascinating slice of history and we loved exploring it. Plus, the complementary museum visit and piano sing-alongs in the pub were a real treat. Definitely worth a stop on a road trip through the area.

Although the meals were OK, they were quite pricey. And while we appreciated the lack of technology in the rooms, the door locks could use an upgrade.

The hotel offers excellent value for money, with reasonable prices and attention to detail. The location, although in need of some refurbishment, is still charming and set in a beautiful setting. The staff provides great service, and the basic amenities in the rooms are satisfactory. One highlight is the rooms with a perfect balcony, allowing guests to enjoy the lovely views.

We had an enjoyable two-night stay at a historical monument located opposite the railway station. Although in need of some refurbishment, the spacious rooms were comfortable with excellent beds. The staff had a lovely attitude and the breakfast crew even cooked crispy bacon to order. The location next to the dam provided a pleasant view. The collections of Victoriana and the transport museum were interesting additions to the experience.

The hotel would benefit from addressing the issue of pigeons making a mess of the property.

The Lord Milner Hotel is a step back in time with Victorian flourishes, charming staff, and a friendly atmosphere. The food is excellent, and the rooms are clean with quality sheets. The ghost tour and bus trip were enjoyable, and the piano playing in the pub was superb. Truly a unique and enjoyable experience in Matjiesfontein.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming hotel in the Karoo. The atmosphere was reminiscent of colonial times, taking me back to nostalgic memories. The room I stayed in had a beautiful verandah, perfect for relaxing and taking in the surroundings. One of the highlights was the exceptional service from Oom Gert and Jessica, who made our dinner reservation an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely delicious, leaving me wanting to stay another night just to try more of their offerings. Breakfast was also a delight, with mouthwatering options to start the day. To top it off, Oom Johnie gave us a tour and even played some songs in the bar, providing a truly unique and nostalgic experience. It was undoubtedly one of the best experiences of our holiday, and I'm already planning on returning.

The dining experience at the hotel was fantastic, with a wide range of delicious Karoo dishes. The pub had a charming period character, and the dining room was a delightful setting. The comfortable and quiet bedroom provided a peaceful stay.
