ecclefechan offered a lovely, clean room with all essential amenities for our brief stay. the staff, especially the friendly young lady at the bar, provided a warm welcome. the location is perfect for exploring both scotland and northern england, making it an ideal base. the owners, the kelly family, were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring a personal and enjoyable experience. the food, particularly the breakfast and haggis, was delicious and satisfying. overall, ecclefechan is a brilliant choice for a cozy and convenient stay in a charming village, with easy access to nearby attractions. Cons: no issues here 🙂.

I had the chance to show off my billiards skills at the classic bar. the English breakfast was free; no complaints from me! I explored the birthplace of social historian Thomas Carlyle, which was quite interesting. Cons: I just love how the sausages need a major upgrade, so gourmet! .

Conveniently located off M74 with own parking. Welcoming staff and dog, friendly atmosphere. Spacious, warm room and generous breakfast. Traditional bar meals and locally, made dessert available. Top, notch full Scottish breakfast included in stay.

the warm welcome and efficiency stood out during my two superb stays. the comfortable rooms, especially room 16, and wholesome breakfast and supper were highlights. Conveniently located near the motorway yet peaceful, it's a great base to explore Dumfries and Galloway. the friendly Kelly family and staff made my experience special.

I absolutely adored the charming old-world architecture of the hotel. the large windows in the rooms allowed plenty of natural light in, making it a delightful place to relax. the accessibility was great for us seniors - no stairs to climb, just an easy stroll to our room.

Perhaps the children working there could consider adding more variety to the bar menus to cater better for us seniors.

The staff were top-notch, really attentive but not in your face, making you feel right at home. the renovated room was a winner - clean as a whistle, comfy bed, and plenty of space, perfect for unwinding after a long day on the road. the bar crowds thinned out after early evening, but being right above, some noise seeped through when folks stepped out to smoke, but the overall experience was tip-top! 🌟

The hotel had plenty of parking, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very comfortable, and the bed was really cozy. the bathroom had lots of water for a relaxing bath, and the air fan was appreciated, as any woman 50+ would understand. Both dinner and cooked breakfast were delicious. the easy check-in and check-out process made our stay even more enjoyable. I would definitely go back. the relaxation facilities allowed us to unwind after a long journey, and the nearby landmarks added to our family bonding experience.
