Fabulous driveway, comfortable bed, stunning views, saw a kingfisher on a walk. Plentiful parking, clean and well-maintained rooms, traditional castle feel. Good breakfast selection, well-kept area, high standard of service. Warm and cosy reception, friendly staff, beautiful grounds.

I recently stayed at Friars Carse Country House for a few nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, with Shannon being particularly helpful. The hotel offers great amenities such as a bar, billiard room, and even fishing for those interested. It's also a convenient base for exploring Castle Douglas and the surrounding area. I've been coming here for over 30 years and it never fails to impress.

The cottage at Friars Carse was amazing! the bed was incredibly comfortable and the overall stay was excellent. the staff were friendly and welcoming, and showed genuine interest in us. the restaurant served delicious food, with my partner enjoying a tasty curry and myself indulging in a well-done steak. the full breakfast was a great way to start the day. the cottage itself was spacious, comfortable, and had great facilities. the beautiful grounds provided lovely walks. Can't recommend this place enough!

The location of this country house hotel is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views of the river and fields. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, with a large, newly installed bathroom suite. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fantastic, with a choice of cooked options and a buffet of cereals, yogurts, fruit. The public areas, like the open fire lounge, added to the character and charm of the hotel.

One receptionist was not very friendly and seemed more focused on her paperwork than on helping guests.

The dog-friendly policy was a bonus, allowing us to bring our furry companion along. the dog suite was a thoughtful touch, providing a dedicated space for our pup.

The limited breakfast menu was a disappointment. It would have been better if there was a wider range of options, especially for those who prefer a cooked breakfast.
