We were pleasantly surprised during our stay at this hotel. The room we had overlooked a busy street, but we heard no noise at all. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful surroundings of Hathersage, including the Derwent Dam and Mam Tor to Lose Hill ridges. We also discovered a fantastic adventure gear shop right across from the hotel, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and furnished, deserving of its 4+ star rating. Our large room was warm, comfortable, and well-equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. The bar and restaurant areas were also nicely furnished and featured some beautiful art and photography. The breakfast was a highlight, with generous portions of freshly cooked meals and a variety of fruit and cereals. The service was excellent, and we even had a chance to meet the owner, who was a real gentleman. Despite some minor drawbacks such as the lack of a lift and the price of the evening meal, we would definitely consider staying here again and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Conveniently located for the Peak District, clean, nicely decorated rooms. Welcoming staff and pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyable included breakfast. Would consider returning.

The location of the hotel is convenient, as it is situated in the pleasant village of Hathersage. It is easy to walk to the village and explore its attractions. I was surprised to find it on a "main" road in the centre of the village, making it easily accessible.

There were some issues with noise levels in the hotel. As a light sleeper, I was disturbed by loud voices and laughter in the corridor outside my room late at night.

Beautiful decor, comfortable rooms, relaxed bar, great evening menu, reasonably priced, delicious food.

I had a great time at this place, traveling alone. The food was absolutely amazing, some of the best I've ever had. The staff were friendly and really helpful. The bathroom was spacious and clean, and the location was central with ample car parking.

The hotel is located on the main street of Hathersage and has a carpark with a barrier and code for security. The premises were refurbished recently and have a modern and attractive feel. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The room was comfortable with complimentary water, tea/coffee, and toiletries. The bathroom had a bath and powerful overhead shower, perfect for walkers. The restaurant and bar served excellent food and exceptional beers. The location is excellent for visiting Stanage Edge, Castleton, and Edale. The reception staff provided detailed local walk information.

Spending xmas in this hotel was an amazing experience. We loved the friendly staff and the super clean room. the bed was so comfortable that we slept like babies every night. the food was exceptional, and we enjoyed quality toiletries in the bathroom. the hotel also had an interesting art collection and the lounge area was a perfect place to relax. We were offered a range of complimentary walks around the area and it was easy to park our car. Plus, the hotel's key location was great, we were able to explore the area without any difficulties.

Everything was perfect and we can't think of anything that we didn't like.

The value for the money was excellent, and our room exceeded our expectations. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location and the staff treated us with friendliness and helpfulness throughout our stay.

The George is situated in a wonderful large rural village, surrounded by scenic beauty. It provides great value for money, with prices that won't break the bank. The hotel pays attention to detail, providing little extras like free bottled water in the rooms. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay.
