The atmosphere of the castle itself was truly captivating, transporting us back in time. Our room exceeded expectations, boasting a beautifully handcrafted four-poster bed that added a touch of luxury to our stay. The meals served were delectable, and we were particularly impressed with the slow-cooked lamb and the mouthwatering upside-down cheesecake. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the amazing staff. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience, engaging us with their delightful banter and making us feel incredibly welcome. Despite minor flaws like dated bathroom fixtures and the absence of some amenities, we would wholeheartedly recommend this extraordinary hotel. we had a fantastic time and would definitely return in the future.

The complimentary mulled wine and mince pies were a nice touch during the Christmas holiday. the hotel location is perfect for those who want to be surrounded by nature and have some quiet time. the snow-covered landscape made the scenery even more beautiful.

The hotel has a charming old-school decor, with statues and ornaments that give it an authentic castle feel. The rooms are comfortable, with a lovely bed and nice amenities such as a full-length mirror and tea/coffee facilities. Staff in the bars and marquee are friendly and attentive, providing excellent service.

The dinner service at the hotel was below par, with mistakes on the bill and delays in getting drinks and food. The lack of dining management and overwhelmed staff detracted from the overall experience.

The location of the hotel is great for nature lovers as it is surrounded by beautiful grounds, perfect for a leisurely stroll. You can even find historic trees planted by Mary Queen of Scots and her secretary David Rizzio down the lane. The room itself was spacious, with a unique layout featuring a mezzanine level for the bedroom area. The staff were polite and helpful, ensuring a pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet offered a reasonable variety of options.

The restaurant in the hotel provided small portions at a high cost and had a limited menu.

I had a fantastic stay at this beautiful castle in Dalkeith. The hotel facilities were top-notch, with a fantastic bar offering a wide selection of drinks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and they immediately assisted me with my luggage upon arrival. The location was perfect for me, as it was close enough to easily taxi to Edinburgh center for work. Additionally, the breakfast provided was delicious and offered both continental and a full Scottish breakfast. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable, and the attention to detail in the large room was impressive.

I recently stayed at this wonderful venue for a few nights and had a great experience. The location was perfect for me as it was close to the area I needed to be in for work. I also enjoyed the quirky restaurant in the castle for a few drinks to wind down. The staff were simply amazing, from receptionists to waiters, and went above and beyond their service. I appreciated their warm welcome and the welcome drink was a nice touch. The room was well-equipped with modern amenities such as flat-screen TV, electric kettle and am/fm alarm clock. Above all, the leisure garden area was a perfect place to relax and unwind.

This hotel is a perfect family-friendly place with board games, children's menu and pets allowed.
