The hotel exceeded our expectations with its cleanliness and well-maintained atmosphere. The staff was friendly and served incredible meals. The quality of the hotel was far higher than the price suggests. We also enjoyed the convenient location, making it a perfect stopover on our way north. We appreciated the comfortable and lovely decor of the hotel.

The price of £180 for one night seemed a bit steep, especially since we booked last minute. The automatic bathroom light that stayed on unless the door was closed was inconvenient, especially when using the toilet at night.

Guests also have the opportunity to admire the view from their rooms, with some overlooking the carpark and high street. the breakfast provided was tasty and the staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant stay for visitors.

One small downside was the difficulty in keeping the shower in place, as it tended to fall out of its cradle.

I was pleasantly surprised by the character and lovely decor of this hotel, it really felt like stepping back in time. The attention to detail in maintaining the age of the building was impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making our stay feel extra special. I particularly appreciated how they went the extra mile to make my husband's birthday memorable by bringing him a dessert with a candle and birthday message. It was a wonderful touch that showed their dedication to providing excellent service.

Although I couldn't fault the property, I would have liked to see a bit more choice on the continental breakfast. It would have been nice to have options for cereal other than just muesli, and a slightly larger portion would have been preferred.

The hotel has recently been fully renovated inside and out, with no expense spared. The room was decorated to a high standard, spacious, and had a comfortable bed. The ensuite bathroom had a large walk-in shower and a full-size bath with top-end fixtures and fittings. The dining area was superb, and the food was excellent, even Michelin standard. The bar/lounge area was comfortable and relaxing. The gardens at the rear were beautifully landscaped. The toilets were spotless. Ample parking is available. The owners, Keith and Carol, have made this one of the best establishments in the UK. Highly recommended for a five-star experience at a competitive price.
