The hotel had a great location, close to stunning surrounding areas. the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of the bed in our room.

Fantastic rooms with a lovely romantic ambiance. the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. the food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. We especially enjoyed the traditional full English breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. the location was ideal, with beautiful surroundings and plenty of attractions nearby. We also appreciated the little touches, such as the doggy pack left for our furry friend. a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend.

The noise from the kitchen, which was quite noticeable in our room. However, this was easily remedied by staying in the bar until closing time.

The location of the hotel is ideal, as it is close to a good pub where you can enjoy a drink and socialize with the locals. The pub itself has a fabulous atmosphere, and the manager goes above and beyond to make guests feel at home. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean and had a door that opened onto a beautiful enclosed garden. The bathroom was spacious and modern, and the service provided by the staff was outstanding. The breakfast was cooked to order using fresh, local produce, and the quality of the food was exceptional.

The rooms at the front of the hotel could be noisy due to the outside seating area.

Just had a fantastic stay at this inn. the manager on Friday night was exceptional and made us feel so at home. She was amazing and so friendly, really going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. the atmosphere is fabulous and the room we had, room 3, was brilliant. It was spotlessly clean, of magnificent standard, and offered plenty of space. the meal we had upon arrival was exceptional, especially the steak, which was the nicest we have ever tasted. We only regretted that we had to leave after just one night. Highly recommended for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We booked the Royal Oak as we were leaving Gretna, and we were pleasantly surprised by our stay. The cottage was spacious with well-equipped rooms and a high-quality bathroom. The host was hospitable and efficient, and the reserved table for dinner was a nice touch. The food, especially the tapas, was excellent. The staff were fantastic, friendly, and efficient. Our room was superb, with comfortable beds, extra amenities, and a beautiful ensuite. Breakfast was also superb, adding to the overall luxury of our stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

We spent our Christmas holidays at a lovely hotel in the Lake District. the food was exceptional and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. the location was perfect, as we were within walking distance to many local attractions and beautiful scenic hikes. We also enjoyed the festive decorations and entertainment that the hotel offered.

The odour of artificial air freshener in the hallways and rooms was overwhelming, which detracted from our overall experience. the lack of proper soundproofing in the rooms made it difficult to sleep at night due to noise from the street.

loved the quaintness of the place - olde worlde building with modern amenities, friendly staff, excellent food and drink. Highly recommend it.
