A lovely mix of old-fashioned charm and character, the hotel offers a unique and peaceful setting with beautiful views and nice walks nearby. the staff went above and beyond to be helpful and kind, making the stay truly memorable. If looking for a modern, high-tech hotel experience, this might not be the right fit, but for those seeking a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be.

Nestled in a secluded location, the cleanliness and charm exceed expectations. the standout service from staff members Julie and Abby enhances the experience. Impressive main rooms and breathtaking scenery contribute to the overall appeal. Delicious dining options with a variety of choices for both dinner and breakfast are excellent.

The hotel had a few drawbacks like the fluorescent bedroom light and limited gluten-free breakfast. The room was on the small side, but the huge bed and elegant decor made up for it. The musty smell and disappointing dinner were a letdown. The staff were friendly, and the red squirrels added charm.

the staff were excellent, despite being very busy with a vintage car rally group in the hotel that night. the room service was great, and the housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping everything neat and tidy. the in-room breakfast was a nice touch, and the dinner was delicious with a variety of options to choose from. the red squirrel walk by the hotel was a unique and enjoyable experience, and the hotel's dog-friendly policy was much appreciated.

Despite the positive aspects, there were a few minor drawbacks that could be improved. Some of the staff seemed a bit grumpy and inattentive, which affected the overall experience.

A splendid hideaway in the wilderness, surrounded by critters and a babbling brook. Old-timey charm with modern comforts. Delightful red squirrels steal the show. Perfect for a cozy retreat. the food was delightful. A quirky highlight was the Winchester sofas. Cons: Swimming fried eggs for breakfast.

I chose this hotel for a business symposium, utilizing the well-equipped conference rooms with free WiFi. Catering to dining, leisure, and business needs, it provided a conducive environment for my work.

The lack of a dedicated business concierge service was a drawback for my work requirements.

The fried rice was a flavor explosion, and the local culinary treasures were top, notch. Plus, the dog, friendly vibe and friendly staff were paw, some!

A couple of nuts in the mix , rude staff and cleanliness snags. even with those hiccups, the shine of Wells in Shap still sparkled.

staff were friendly and caring, exuding old world character. superb location with lovely scenery that resonated deeply. can’t wait to go back to this gem, wells is truly special.

The bar gave us the best vibes, playing dope tunes all night. We partied hard and even hit up an epic karaoke sesh and game night. Total blast!

More late-night activities for us party animals would be wicked.

clean and close to the m6 – felt like a scene from an episode of fawlty towers. staff were top-notch - with the separate dining area for dog-owners being a hit.

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the Lake District, with Ullswater, Ambleside, and Windermere just a short drive away. the sprawling old building is nestled in a little valley, offering a nice walk with bird feeders and a stream. Telephone boxes are scattered throughout the property. Rooms are comfortable and serve tasty breakfast.
