darnley hotel in ilfracombe exceeded my expectations. the owners were friendly and the restaurant/bar served excellent meals. the rooms were spacious and clean, with comfortable beds. a lovely walk through the grounds, lit up at night, added to the charm. overall, a great experience worth returning for.

Decor in our room looked unfinished.

The location of the hotel is ideal, as it is situated just outside the town centre, making it convenient to explore the area. the pleasant shady garden provides a peaceful atmosphere for guests to relax. Guests can easily access Tunnels beaches, which is a major attraction nearby.

The lounge area is not very family-friendly, as it lacks a proper lounge and only has a bar.

ilfracombe is always a favorite spot for me, and this time staying at a lovely old hotel made it even better. comfy beds with snuggly duvets, friendly hosts who had great recommendations, and the fact that dogs are welcome made it a memorable stay.

A small hiccup - something was missing.

Variety of food options for vegetarians and carnivores. Original features and ongoing renovations. Quality bed linen and towels. Freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Friendly and welcoming owners. Secure access. Excellent shower.

For us, it was ideal.

The decor in our room looked unfinished and scruffy around the edges. Overgrown grounds and overflowing ashtrays.

The room was spacious and well-maintained, with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with useful local information. The hotel had a nice bar where we could relax in the evening.

The breakfast service was extremely slow, causing us to leave later than planned on our final day. Additionally, the noise from seagulls in the area was quite disruptive, making it difficult to sleep peacefully.

We had a really pleasant stay at the Darnley. the hotel is well placed, just a short walk into town, and it offers a convenient car park. the rooms are larger than average and have en-suite facilities. the decor is lovely and the beds are comfortable with clean bedding. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel, and the breakfast cooked by the young chef was delicious. the owners were friendly, welcoming, and had great local knowledge.

The hotel's location is fantastic, being close to the town centre but still in a quiet area. Guests can easily walk to the harbour front and enjoy the seaside atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and provide en-suite facilities, ensuring comfort and convenience for the guests. The breakfast served is delicious, and the chef prepares a variety of dishes to satisfy different tastes. Free off-road parking is available, which is a great advantage for those traveling by car.

Some aspects of the hotel's decor may be dated and could use some refurbishment.

No dressing gowns for nighttime trips to the bathroom.

Paul, the host, was friendly and proud of his hotel. Our room was large, newly decorated, and kept impeccably clean. the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. the hotel's location was perfect, just a short walk away from town and the Tunnels Beach. We enjoyed socializing with other guests at the bar, and the breakfasts were delicious, with a variety of options including a well-cooked and health-conscious full English breakfast. the bathroom had one of the best showers we've experienced in a hotel.
