We stayed here for a weekend getaway with friends and had a fantastic time. The location was perfect for us, being halfway between London and Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent service throughout our stay. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection with high-quality ingredients. The rooms exceeded our expectations, rivaling boutique hotels we've stayed in before. The inn had a stylish and comfortable ambiance, and the cleanliness was impeccable. We never heard any outside noise except for the hooting of an owl. The car park was spacious and secure. We also appreciated the warm welcome every time we returned from our day trips. I highly recommend this hotel for a great experience.

The General Tarleton gave me great value for my money. The room was beautifully decorated and made me feel right at home. The location was convenient, with ample parking and easy access to the A1. The staff were the best I've encountered in a long time, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.

our recent stay in knaresborough was lovely, but the general tarleton exceeded all expectations. from the comfortable room to the fantastic staff, everything was perfect. the tasting menu was exceptional and the breakfast was faultless. will definitely be returning.

shower didn't work

We stayed overnight during a long journey and had a fantastic dinner at a restaurant in a rural area. The food was exceptional, with scallops as a starter and roast grouse as the main course. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was cozy. Our room was clean and comfortable, with nice touches like homemade biscuits and Arabica coffee. The breakfast in the conservatory was delicious. it was a lovely experience.

The seat at the reception area was not comfortable.

The staff, including Sarah, Francesca, Ben, Georgina, Emilia. This establishment provides value for money with a passionate staff.

We got incredible value for our money at The General Tarleton - the room was comfortable and the coffee and tea were top-notch. The location was perfect, close to Knaresborough, Wetherby, and Harrogate. The staff went above and beyond, from Emily who made sure our reservation was confirmed to the friendly and welcoming service from Emalia, Donald, and the rest of the team.

Food for breakfast could be improved by adding some baked beans to the delicious cooked breakfast.

The staff were exceptional, from the cocktail waiter who provided an enjoyable pre-dinner drinks experience to Emelia, the lovely and knowledgeable waitress who took pride in her work. The dinner in the restaurant was superb, with dishes cooked to perfection, including a delicious Eton Mess for dessert.

For us, it was ideal.
