Pros Waking up to a delicious Full English breakfast at Shrubbery truly set a positive tone for my day. the cozy, character-filled room may have creaky floorboards, but it added to the unique charm. Even though the room was initially chilly, the central heating eventually warmed it up. I'd recommend this hotel for a different and homely stay.

During my Christmas stay, the room was very clean and cozy, making it feel like a home away from home. the staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The easy, to, find location and ample on, site parking were a bonus, especially during the busy holiday season. Cons: the room was a bit cold upon arrival, and the small electric fire provided wasn't sufficient to warm up the space. once the central heating kicked in, the room became comfortable.

The Breakfast was a Full English / Cereal / a few other bits that were perfect for the morning start. the Staff were the making of the Hotel as they were lovely to talk to and informative about the area. the evening meal was lovely and meant that I did not need to go out of the hotel for a Pint and a good meal. the rear hotel garden is lovely to be in on a nice day. the nearby landmarks like Mulberry and Beacon Hill Woods provided great opportunities for family bonding, and the relaxation in the garden area with beach umbrellas added to our enjoyment.

The Shrubbery, under new ownership, may need some updates but has a charming feel. Dated decor and small TVs are offset by a delightful breakfast and friendly staff. Some rooms are basic and noisy, but cleanliness and hospitality shine. It's not luxurious, but worth a visit for its unique character and homely touches.
