The hotel had a great location, with plenty of beautiful walks nearby. We also enjoyed the lovely snug area and bar, which were perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home.

The evening meal was lacking in flavor and the beef bourguignon was a bit bland. The mashed potatoes were not very buttery, and the fresh vegetables listed on the menu turned out to be frozen peas.

The Sycamore Inn Birch Vale is a lovely place to stay for families with kids. Situated not far from local shops and up to New Mills, it offers convenience and access to amenities. The rooms are basic but clean and nicely decorated, ensuring a comfortable stay. The friendly and accommodating staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The freshly prepared breakfast is a highlight, with a variety of options to choose from. Plus, the presence of a grass area allows kids to play and burn off some energy.

One of the downsides is that some rooms may lack certain amenities such as plugs next to the beds.

We had a fantastic family getaway in the beautiful countryside of England. The location of the hotel was perfect, with footpaths along the Settings Valley and Kinder Scout right on our doorstep. It was an ideal base for exploring the stunning Castleton. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff provided excellent service. The breakfasts were delicious and set us up for a day of adventures. The only downside was that some light bulbs were not working. we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this place for families.

We did find that the corridor leading to the rooms was open to the elements and quite chilly, especially after spending time in the warm and welcoming bar area.
