The location of the lodge was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views and beautiful grounds to explore. the hiking trails, fishing opportunities, and bird watching in the area were a highlight of our stay. Additionally, the included breakfast was delicious, with amazing fruit and excellent coffee.

We experienced a few negative aspects during our stay. the staff was often rude and forgetful, which led to multiple instances of poor service.

Difficult and unpleasant journey to reach the hotel, with a poor road condition and challenging navigation. Lack of proper signage, making it challenging to find the hotel entrance, especially at night.

I got great value for my money at Trogon Lodge - the room was comfortable, clean, and well-heated at night. The location was amazing, surrounded by beautiful gardens, ponds, and mountains. The staff was incredibly helpful and arranged a pickup for us when we arrived by bus. The horseback riding tour they organized was the best we've done in Costa Rica, and the horses were adorable and well taken care of.

The only thing that could have made the breakfast better was a little more variety in the options available.

We had a fantastic stay at Trogon Lodge for 2 nights. The garden and restaurant were amazing, with fresh and delicious food. The guided quetzal tour with the wonderful guide Gravian was a must-do. The setting was truly spectacular, with beautiful grounds and breathtaking scenery. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the attention to detail in the accommodations and amenities was impressive. The location, though a bit challenging to reach, was well worth it for the stunning views and tranquil atmosphere.

The gardens were filled with fabulous birds and there was a great river tumbling over rocks on the spacious property. It was the perfect location for spotting the Resplendent Quetzal. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the food at the restaurant was amazing. I especially loved the fresh trout from the river and ponds at the lodge. The management was also very responsive to any issues we had with our room. a great experience!

recently stayed in san gerardo de dota for a relaxing break. trogon lodge exceeded expectations with stunning grounds, cozy cottages, and exceptional staff. the natural feel and attention to detail, like the hot water bottles in our beds, were delightful surprises. the quetzal birding experience was absolutely special. meals with trout from the property ponds were delicious!

Felt cozy, no complaints.

What a paradise! We enjoyed a 2-night stay at this jewel nestled at 9,000 feet. The cabins had all the essentials, including showers and heaters, and the beds were very comfortable. The stunning views from our porch were worth it alone. The morning birding tour was incredible, especially seeing the resplendent quetzal. The grounds were simply beautiful, attracting birds and boasting flowers as big as children. The friendly staff made us feel welcome and the breakfast buffet was fantastic with fresh, homegrown ingredients.
