I recently had a wonderful stay at The Strand Hotel Former Home Of Oscar Wilde & Caffe Vergnano 1882. My partner and I stayed for two nights to celebrate our anniversary. The location was perfect, right by the beach and within walking distance to an arcade and several pubs. The room had beautiful decor and a very comfortable big bed. It was spotlessly clean and provided plenty of tea and coffee. The shower pressure was great as well. The newly renovated cafe and restaurant were a great addition and the breakfast was delicious, especially the full Irish with scrambled eggs. The dinner in the restaurant was also fantastic, with a great burger and chips. The staff, including the manager, were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and efficient. They truly made our stay enjoyable and we can't wait to return.

The beautiful period building and renovations were impressive. the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay, and the location was excellent.

Check-in was delayed and there was confusion among the staff. the room was smaller than advertised and noisy with staff talking loudly.

There was a slight downside to my stay at the Strand Hotel. there was a lingering smell of cigarette smoke in my room from previous guests, which was quite unpleasant for me.

The rooms were well presented and neat, with a lovely balcony in the eating area that offered stunning views. the attention to detail regarding the heritage of the building, with room names based on Oscar Wilde's works and framed quotations on the walls, was an excellent touch. the water pressure in the shower was amazing.

There were a few downsides to my experience. the breakfast menu had limited options for fruits and cereals, and the cooked foods were the main focus.

The hotel is beautifully restored with plush interiors, and the staff are excellent. The food is well cooked and they offer a complimentary breakfast and fish meal with wine as compensation. The location is fantastic and the hotel has a rich history, with Oscar Wilde having owned and lived there.

The location of this hotel was perfect, with its proximity to everything we needed and its stunning views of the sea and Bray Head. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the beautiful scenery. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, providing great service throughout our stay.

Although all was ok, there was one aspect that could be improved. The breakfast could be better with stronger coffee and more attention to the quality of the food.

My stay at The Strand Hotel Former Home Of Oscar Wilde & Caffe Vergnano 1882 was a mixed bag, but there were definitely some positives to highlight. the location was perfect, just 12 miles south of Dublin and conveniently located on the DART line. Being by the sea added to the charm of the hotel. The breakfast at the hotel was really good, and I enjoyed the variety of options available. The staff were also nice and welcoming, which made my stay more enjoyable. The historic building added a touch of elegance, and I appreciated that all the rooms were named after Oscar Wilde characters/stories. I was lucky enough to get room 4, 'The Selfish Giant,' which had a bay window with a stunning view of the Bray seafront and the Dublin coastline. The terrace in the cafe also offered panoramic sea views and a great atmosphere. Despite some flaws, I still found this hotel to be a gem in the somewhat tacky seaside resort of Bray.

While there were several positive aspects to my stay, there were also a few drawbacks that need to be mentioned. there was some confusion regarding my prearranged late checkout.

The breakfast at the lovely Cafe Verragano was high quality with a great selection. The sea views from the bright room and outside terrace were refreshing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room 6 had a superb view of the sea and Bray Headland.

Excellent location for exploring Wicklow, Bray Head climb, Cliff walk to Greystones, and visiting Glendalough. Must-visit cafe with terrace for delicious breakfast and coffee, perfect for watching the sea, sunrise, and promenade. Clean rooms and general areas. Friendly and accommodating staff. Hand sanitizers available.
