The highlight was definitely the private hot tubs in our rooms. It was such a treat to relax and soak in the onsen while the snow fell around us. The traditional dinner was delicious and beautifully presented. Although the Japanese breakfast was a bit challenging for our palates, they did offer a western alternative. The staff took care of us from the moment we arrived, providing excellent service and even arranging for our bags to be taken to a nearby cafe while we visited the Snow Monkey Park. I highly recommend this hotel for a unique and unforgettable experience.

The hotel offers 5 in-house Onsens and private Onsens in every room. The staff is friendly and English-friendly. The food is excellent. The hotel provides a unique souvenir - a towel to stamp at every Onsen visited. The atmosphere is great.

The variety of onsens provided an amazing experience. The breakfasts and dinners were incredible and delicious.

Felt extremely safe, no complaint.

The staff were incredibly helpful and went the extra mile providing train time tables, lending us boots for walking in the snow , shuttling us to and from the station and the monkey park etc. etc. Futons were comfortable. The service and food was five star. The staff explained everything about using onsens in English. There are also eight different onsens at the property for guests to book and use. The location was perfect - lots of interesting, narrow, winding streets to explore and really close to the snow monkey park.

com; it is amazing what an angle and lighting can do. Speaking of which, the lighting was the horrible white strip light-style you get in offices that takes a second to turn on.

The hotel provided a free shuttle service to the Snow Monkey Park, which was very convenient. We also appreciated the private onsen on the balcony of our room, allowing for a relaxing and intimate experience. Additionally, the traditional Japanese meals served at the hotel were large and delicious.

The price of the hotel was quite steep for the area, and we felt that we could have gotten similar accommodations for less in other locations. Furthermore, the heating in the hotel building was not consistent, with some areas feeling quite cold.

Private outdoor bath was delightful, supplied with hot spring water. Traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast provided a unique experience. Relaxing stay with the option to book private baths.

I particularly enjoyed the in-house bathes, which were far superior to the public ones in the town. The hotel even offered a free shuttle service to the snow monkey park, which was a fantastic bonus. The breakfast was delicious, offering both Japanese and Western options with plenty of food to choose from. the staff, cleanliness, hotel facilities, breakfast, and transportation services were outstanding.

The room was cozy, clean, and beautifully traditional. The location was perfect, close to the snow monkey park, and the staff treated us like VIPs, going above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

My husband and I had an incredible stay at Shibu Onsen Kokuya. We were blown away by the private open-air bath in our room - it was so relaxing to soak in the hot spring water while enjoying the cool November evening. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing us with a map of the area and giving us recommendations for nearby sights. The twelve-course Japanese dinner was a highlight, especially the delicious wagyu beef and pumpkin dumpling. The inn itself was beautiful and had a fascinating layout. We also loved exploring the ryokan neighborhood and trying out the public onsens. The fresh apple produce in the town was a delightful bonus. I highly recommend Shibu Onsen Kokuya for an amazing ryokan experience. Overall I highly recommend this hotel.
