I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming ryokan in Kyoto. The staff at Ryokan Sawaya Honten were incredibly hospitable and helpful. They made the check-in/check-out process seamless and were always ready to answer any questions we had. The entire place was kept very clean and the interiors were amazing. Our room was spacious and well-prepared, providing everything we needed for our stay. The added bonus of having a private onsen was a delightful treat. Highly recommended for a memorable and comfortable stay in Kyoto.

Conveniently located near temples and shrines. Rooms are spacious with separate areas for toilet, shower, and tub. Staff is attentive and helpful. Clean interiors and well-equipped rooms. Enjoyed the private onsen. Will recommend and return in the future.

The room at Ryokan Sawaya Honten was clean and spacious, with traditional tatami mats and a comfortable futon bed. We enjoyed the authentic ryokan experience, especially the public onsen that was hardly used by other guests. The staff, particularly Hiroshi at the night desk, were friendly and attentive to details like mini gardens in the windows.

The breakfasts are phenomenal! The futons are incredibly comfortable and the public bath is a welcome treat. The staff is extremely helpful, assisting with laundry and providing friendly service. The traditional experience is top-notch with spacious rooms and a welcoming atmosphere.

The hotel staff at this place were incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English. They went out of their way to assist me and answer any questions I had. The room was traditional and beautiful, with daily thorough cleaning. The location was quiet and conveniently situated between a subway station and several bus stations, making it easy to explore all points of interest. The breakfasts were amazing, and the futons were soft and comfortable. The hotel also provided a wonderful public bath, which was a great way to relax after a long day of walking.

Being able to experience a traditional ryokan with my family was an amazing experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The rooms were clean and well-kept, and the big bathrooms were a nice touch. The location was perfect, within walking distance to transportation options and easily accessible by taxi.

There are a few things that potential guests should be aware of. there is no elevator in the ryokan, so if you have difficulty with stairs, this may not be the best choice for you.

The inn had a beautiful traditional design with cherry blossom views from the room. The service provided by the innkeepers was professional and attentive. The option of a private bath in the room was a nice touch.

The sleeping arrangement on futons and tatamis was uncomfortable for some guests. Some aspects of the hotel's operation, such as holding onto guests' keys and restrictions on having visitors or storing luggage, felt overly strict and inconvenient.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area, making it a peaceful retreat after a busy day. The location is convenient, with easy access to bus and train stations. The staff are extremely hospitable and helpful, providing us with maps and instructions to key attractions. The rooms are well-prepared and kept very clean. Amenities such as slippers, bathrobes, and toothbrushes are provided. An added bonus is the onsen, which offers a relaxing experience.

The area surrounding the hotel is calmer, so finding dinner options nearby may require making arrangements elsewhere. The location may not be ideal for guests with a busy schedule.
