I gotta say, the value for money at this place was unbeatable. The room was clean and spacious with all the supplies we needed. The location was fantastic, just a few minutes walk from the train station and super easy to find. And the staff, oh man, they were so helpful and friendly, always ready to give us recommendations and answer our questions.

The breakfast selection could have been better, maybe a few more options would have been nice.

Ryokan Shimizu was an absolute hidden gem and worth every penny. The room was beautifully designed in traditional Machiya style, with a futon that was more comfortable than any hotel bed. The location was perfect, close to everything but with a local vibe. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and provided us with helpful information and even a cute parting gift.

Breakfast option could have been more varied.

The inn's location was also a major plus, with easy access to public transportation and a wide selection of restaurants nearby.

The walls were a bit thin, leading to some noise from other guests during the night. However, most guests were considerate and quiet by 10 PM, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep.

I recently stayed at a fabulous traditional Japanese inn in Kyoto. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, providing great recommendations. The free reservable Japanese bath was a relaxing way to end the day. The rooms, located in a safe quiet neighborhood, were lovely, with their own bathrooms. The highlight was definitely the incredible breakfast, a four-course meal with a variety of options. The location, within a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, made it easy to explore the city. I will definitely be staying here again.

Ryokan Shimizu exceeded our expectations in every way. the staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with valuable information about navigating the city. the room was impeccably clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. the ryokan's location, just a short walk from Kyoto station, was very convenient. We also received a special gift upon check-out, which added a memorable touch to our experience.

Shimizu is the perfect place to experience traditional Japanese hospitality. the spacious rooms, sweet lemon tea, and candlelit garden were all highlights. the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even provided bikes for us to explore Kyoto. the location, just a short walk from the train station, was also very convenient.
