American breakfast provided as a nice change. Beautiful inn and garden with meticulous attention to detail. Spotlessly clean and well-appointed room. Private bath for relaxation. Dinner and breakfast rival high-end restaurants. Friendly, available, and polite staff. Traditional ambiance and furniture. A perfect stay with a taste of old-world Japan.

Located in the charming Gion neighborhood, this ryokan offers a convenient base for exploring the many nearby sightseeing spots. The staff are welcoming and provide an uncanny level of service, creating a truly royal experience. The traditional rooms are comfortable and the private bath is a unique addition. The breakfast, whether Japanese-style or Western, is delicious and varied. the location, service, and amenities make for an excellent ryokan experience.

The family bath, while a nice addition, may be underwhelming for some guests.

I had a fantastic Japanese experience at Ryokan Sakanoue. The kaiseki meals were absolutely delicious, with a new menu every day. The traditional dining room added to the authenticity of the experience. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated in traditional Japanese style. The wood bathtub was a highlight, with amazing water pressure and a clean bathroom. The location of the hotel was convenient, close to attractions and the Gion area. I highly recommend Ryokan Sakanoue for a true Ryokan experience in Kyoto.

The traditional inn had a great atmosphere, with a cozy and comfortable vibe. the location was perfect, with easy access to local attractions and restaurants. We really enjoyed the breakfast that was offered, it was always fresh and delicious.

That there was a smoking area in the lobby, which made it uncomfortable for non-smokers like us. the room was a bit small, making it difficult to move around freely.

The hotel is a luxurious venue with exclusive amenities that fulfilled all our needs. We stayed in a room with private facilities, including a wooden bath tub and good quality shampoo. the location advantages were unmatched as we could easily walk to many sights.

The only minor issue we encountered was that the toilet room was a bit cold, but the hotel provided a movable heating device that helped. Nonetheless, this did not affect our overall experience at the hotel.
