Incredibly accommodating staff who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. The private onsen room was a fantastic upgrade and definitely worth the money. The nearby ramen place had the best pork ramen in Japan. Easy and convenient pick-up service from the Ogoto onsen station. The staff also went to great lengths to ensure our luggage was forwarded to the correct hotel. The kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast were delicious and catered to specific dietary requests. The indoor and outdoor baths were clean and spacious, with a stunning view from the rooftop onsen at night. The hotel also had recreational facilities like a pool table and table tennis. a fantastic experience for a relaxing onsen stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this Japanese-style hotel. The location was convenient, being only a short distance from the Ogoto-Onsen station. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a clean and well-maintained bathroom. The breakfast and dinner served were delicious and satisfying. We also enjoyed the free shuttle service that took us to the nearby train stations. it was a great experience.

We found the air conditioning in our room to be inconsistent, which caused some discomfort during the night.

Arriving at the onsen station, I was relieved to see the hotel shuttle waiting for me. Check-in was a breeze and the receptionists were friendly and accommodating. The hotel had multiple onsen options, including private rooms for couples, which I really enjoyed. The food at the hotel was absolutely delicious, and the dinner experience was worth the wait. I had an amazing and cozy experience at Yumotokan. The cleanliness of the hotel impressed me, despite its age. The indoor and outdoor baths were both clean and relaxing. The hotel even went above and beyond to ensure we made it to the train station on time, which was greatly appreciated. Although there were a few language barriers, the staff tried their best to assist us. The breakfast was simple, but after the satisfying dinner, it didn't bother me. Yumotokan provides a wonderful onsen experience and I highly recommend it. I'll definitely recommend this hotel.

Spent New Year's at a ryokan in Shiga and it was a blast! Loved the traditional Japanese tatami room and the beautiful view of the lake. the ohmi beef meal was to die for - steak and shabu shabu cooked to perfection. the private dining room made it feel like a truly special occasion. the various hot springs on offer were great, especially the indoor one, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

there was no shuttle service to the nearby train station, which made getting around a bit of a hassle. Although the staff spoke some English, communication proved to be challenging at times.

Beautiful establishment, immaculate rooms, traditional Japanese culture, spacious and clean twin bed room with private onsen bath, highly recommended Kaiseki breakfast and dinner.

Our group of friends had a blast enjoying the multiple indoor and outdoor public baths with stunning lake and mountain views. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic, providing a luxurious experience.

The rooms are comfortable and spacious, providing a good night's sleep. The meals served, such as the ohmi beef and grilled fish breakfast, are of outstanding quality. The ryokan also offers various indoor and outdoor spas, allowing guests to enjoy a rejuvenating experience.

One negative aspect is that the hotel's air conditioning/heating system was not functioning properly, causing discomfort for guests during their stay.

We had a fantastic stay at Yumotokan! the hotel offers a choice of three different hot springs each night, as well as the option to book one of their two private ones. We took advantage of the private onsen and it was absolutely worth it. the hotel also provides a shuttle service from the Otogo Onsen Station, which was a lifesaver for us as we had multiple bags. They were kind enough to offer us a room with an onsen inside, which was an amazing upgrade. the food at the hotel was also exceptional, although a bit pricey. the room was spacious and clean, and we had a great time playing pool and table tennis in the basement. And let's not forget the breathtaking view from the rooftop onsen at night - it was just as amazing as the photos!
