I had planned to stay at Distant Relatives Ecolodge & Backpackers for just one night, but ended up extending my stay to a whole month! The staff was incredibly helpful and the set up of the property was beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the informative tour of their ecofacilities and the convenient access to a sandy beach along the creek. The breakfast was lovely, and they had a good variety of vegetarian options for dinner. The spacious rooms and en suite shower were great, and I appreciated the quiet and cool work room available for guests. it was a wonderful experience and I hope to visit again soon.

We had an amazing time at Distant Relatives Ecolodge & Backpackers. the facilities were top-notch, from the beautiful pool to the delicious food at the bar. We loved the eco concept of the place and the opportunity to meet other backpackers. the common areas were beautiful and the staff took great care of the place. the activities offered, like snorkeling, were fantastic. Despite initially being hesitant about the shared toilets and bathrooms, we found them to be clean. it was the best backpacker experience we've had in Kenya!

The place was comfortable, clean, and safe. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. I loved the eco-friendly concept of the lodge, with sustainable and recyclable materials used throughout. The open-air shower with the bamboo overhead was charming. The food and drinks from the bar were delicious and worth the price. Special thanks to Brian, Hamisi, and Beth for making my stay even more enjoyable. The permaculture tour with Musa was fascinating. The lodge is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from a pretty beach on the creek. I highly recommend this place.

The compost toilets and outdoor shower blended perfectly with the natural surroundings. The hotel's commitment to being environmentally conscious was evident with informative reminders throughout the property. The staff at the reception were welcoming and friendly. The spacious rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, equipped with mosquito nets without any holes. Seeing the bioluminescence at night was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that made the stay truly memorable.

I was lucky to get upgraded to bandas at Distant Relatives. the staff was great and the atmosphere was chill. I loved the incredible bioluminescence and the activities available, like snorkelling in the mangroves. the food portions were huge and delicious. the eco-friendly approach was impressive, from the bamboo shower to the chicken farm and garden. it was a great experience and I would have loved to stay longer.

As a solo traveler, I instantly felt at home at this lovely hostel. The staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. The mix of locals and guests in the restaurant and bar made it a great place to meet people. The eco concept was taken seriously, with unique features like outdoor showers and composting toilets. The evening was enjoyable, with guests lounging around and great music playing at the bar. The 10-minute walk to see the bioluminescent plankton at the beach was a memorable experience.

The atmosphere at this ecolodge was incredible! From the moment I arrived, I felt like part of the family. The staff were so welcoming and fun, creating a friendly and sociable environment. The mix of locals and guests in the restaurant and bar made it easy to meet new people. Plus, the parties were a blast but never too loud. I also loved the eco concept - they really take it seriously and it shows. The location was great, with beautiful beaches nearby and easy access to attractions like Mida Creek and Arabuko Sokoke forest. And the food was delicious too!

I have to mention that the location was a bit secluded, so getting a private taxi is necessary to get around. , the wildlife around the lodge was a bit overwhelming.

Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Loved the eco-friendly toilets. Staff was incredible, always there to help. Can't wait to detox from civilization again.

As a budget traveler, I loved the affordable accommodations and the option to stay in the 8-person dorm. The common area was a chill space to relax, and I appreciated being able to use the kitchen for no extra cost. The staff were friendly and even took us to a local club. The outdoor shower was a highlight, and the lodge had a mix of African tradition and contemporary design. The nearby beach and recommended beaches were perfect for unwinding and enjoying the spectacular views.
