The friendly atmosphere at Backpackers made it easy to meet other travelers. We found partners for hiking and made lifelong friends. The social aspect of the hostel was fantastic. The private room we stayed in was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and soft comforter. Despite being located on a side street, the hostel was still within walking distance of the busy areas of Lakeside. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, even during busy times at the Corner Pub downstairs. The breakfast provided each day was outstanding, with different options that were always tasty. The staff at Backpackers were incredibly kind and understanding, always going above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. They even helped me extend my stay when I needed extra rest. I had a wonderful experience at Backpackers and would highly recommend it.

While the activities and tours offered by the hostel were good, there may be better options in town for those looking for the best deals and prices. Additionally, some of the power sockets in the room were not functional, which was a minor inconvenience.

Each room had its own toilet and hot shower, which was very convenient. The hostel was located close to the tourist bus park and there were cheap but good restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The hostel also provided free drinking water, which was a nice bonus. I stayed in the family room and it was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed it so much that we even booked it again after our hike. I highly recommend this hostel, especially for solo travelers.
