Just stayed at Ariki Backpackers for three nights last week. The location is perfect, right in the center and close to the bus station. The staff, especially Rob the boss, was incredibly helpful and gave great advice. The upgraded room was a nice surprise and the bed was very comfortable. The common kitchen had everything I needed and more. The soundproofing was excellent and I slept soundly. Plus, there was a beautiful cat!

I had a great stay at Ariki Backpackers! The location was easy to find and convenient for exploring the city and waterfront. The staff were friendly and helpful, cleaning the dorms and bathrooms daily. The kitchen was well stocked and had plenty of space for multiple people to cook. I also loved the deal with the bar next door for a tasty pizza and beer. Plus, the owner's dog was a fun and friendly addition to the hostel.

Located in the heart of the town, this backpackers is conveniently close to the bus stop and a variety of shops and cafes. Guests praised the friendly and welcoming staff, who provided valuable local knowledge and were accommodating to special requests. The room offered comfortable beds, and the security features of the hostel, such as door codes and locking rooms, provided peace of mind. Despite the noise from the attached bar and the street, guests were able to sleep well with the help of earplugs.

The facilities in the hostel, including the kitchen and bathrooms, were in need of improvement and cleanliness.

We did encounter some minor inconveniences. The bathroom facilities, particularly the shower, could use some improvement in terms of water pressure and temperature control.

Limited parking options and having to carry baggage a few blocks away raised concerns about the safety of the car overnight and the potential cost of a parking ticket.

The location of Ariki Backpackers was ideal, with easy access to the coastal walkway, shops, and cafes. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. Despite some outdated facilities, the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.

Walking distance to all amenities and the highlight of the day was visiting the museum. The kitchen setup was big and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Heavy rain restricted our day plan, missed out on scenic walks. No free parking, had to park a few blocks away.

The staff were allergy-conscious, changing the duvet for a hypoallergenic one. Great advice on activities and transport. Laid-back staff made everyone feel welcome. Super helpful Rob, Chris, and Julia. Fantastic location with a view and nearby amenities.

They had so much local knowledge and were happy to share it with me, making my trip even more enjoyable. The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of town. I could easily walk to the iSite, Library, and Puke Ariki, which was filled with books about the Taranaki region. Plus, being so close to the foreshore walkway, bars, cafes, and the city center mall was incredibly convenient. The service provided here was top-notch, with amenities like bicycle hire, housekeeping, laundry, and even an airport shuttle available. The staff really went above and beyond to make my stay here an absolute gem.

We stayed at a backpackers in a great location, just steps from the bus station. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Rob who gave us a tour and provided useful advice. The kitchen was well-equipped and organized, and the sleep facilities were nicely separated from the lounge and kitchen areas. We also enjoyed the company of their friendly pet dogs, including a well-behaved pup.

We had a great experience staying at Ariki Backpackers. The twin room with shared bath was clean and comfortable, with all linens and towels provided. The hostel is conveniently located near shopping, bars, restaurants, the iSite, and the ocean. We especially enjoyed hanging out on the great deck. I'll definitely recommend this place.

I had a great Easter stay at this hotel. They offered two nice complimentary features that made me feel welcome. The location was perfect! It was so easy to explore the area since it was only a short walk to the water and all the supermarkets were nearby. Another advantage I enjoyed was the en suite bathroom in the dorm room that added a bit of privacy.

There were a few negative aspects during my stay. The lighting in the room was poor and a bit grubby in some communal areas.

Stayed at a backpacker's with a lovely guest lounge and outdoor patio. Great opportunity to avoid summer and winter in the Alpine regions. Amazing performances and food at WOMAD festival.

Oh, I just loved the dog wandering around the place, not everyone's cup of tea but hey, it added a certain charm.
