our recent stay in kaikoura was absolutely wonderful. bay cottages exceeded our expectations with their spacious and well-equipped cottage, complete with a separate lounge and a cozy fireplace. the peaceful location and friendly staff made our stay truly memorable.

One thing that was missing was information about local activities and walks.

Stayed at a cute little property by the beach. Friendly check in process with local cafe recommendations. Spotless cottage with a huge bed! Washing machine in the room was a bonus. Although no sea view from the cottage, it was just a 1-minute walk away. Watched dolphins from the driveway when leaving. Very cool experience.

The location of this hotel is perfect. It is situated in the quieter South Bay area, away from the touristic hustle and bustle of Kaikoura. Just a short walk down the driveway and you are right by the beach, which was ideal for us as we had family staying nearby. Additionally, the hotel is just a few minutes' drive away from the downtown area, so you have the best of both worlds - a peaceful location and easy access to shops and restaurants.

Although the ensuite shower temperature was a bit tricky to control, everything else was top-notch. The cottage had all the amenities we needed, including a washing machine and a well-equipped kitchen. The location was ideal, with a private drive leading to a tranquil seaside spot, perfect for hiking and exploring nature. The outdoor dining area and picnic tables added to the overall charm. The friendly owners made us feel like VIPs. Can't wait to come back for our next Kaikoura getaway.
