The Ducks and Drakes is excellently-located close to Pukekura Park with everything you need within walking distance. The common areas are large and comfortable. My single room was a decent size. The welcome was warm and I had no problem finding parking on the street outside.

As trekkers and a group of friends, we loved the friendly personnel and comfy beds. The kitchen was clean and the WiFi worked well. Having a nearby Pak'n'save was very convenient. We had a great time staying there for 3 nights.

The location was perfect, right next to supermarkets and close to all the attractions in town. The facilities were top-notch, with clean and excellent amenities. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and clean. The kitchen was huge and had every utensil I could possibly need. There were plenty of common areas both indoors and outdoors to relax and socialize. One thing that I really loved about this place was the mix of people staying there. It was a combination of backpackers and motel guests, which created a wonderful and diverse atmosphere. I met a family of three generations during my stay, which was a refreshing change from the typical backpacker crowd. The fact that it was a member of the BBH family and offered a discount with a BBH card made it even more fantastic value. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you're visiting New Plymouth or climbing Taranaki.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ducks & Drakes! The location was perfect, just a short walk to town. The room was spacious and the furnishings were attractive. The little kitchen was a great bonus, and the TV was a good size.

I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at Ducks & Drakes Boutique Motel & Backpackers. The vintage charm of the hostel added to the overall ambiance, and the clean bathrooms were a definite plus. The spacious kitchen with ample seating areas made it easy to prepare and enjoy meals. Despite the weather being gloomy, the on-site laundry and good Wi-Fi kept me entertained. Street parking was convenient, and the easy walk to grocery stores and the main CBD was a bonus. I was also grateful for the affordable price and the fact that my grand daughter could join me at no extra cost. The friendly permanent lodger added to the welcoming atmosphere. I had a great experience and would recommend this vintage hostel to my friends and family.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and quick to assist us. The facilities were well-thought out and the rooms and common areas were bright and cheerful. The two dogs at the hotel were absolute stars, with one being social and loving pats. We found the funny instructions on how to interact with the dogs at the reception. Additionally, the hotel offered a sauna at an additional price, which looked fine and would be helpful in winter. The location of the hotel was perfect, as it was fairly close to the city center and there were major shops and nice dining places in the next street. This hotel is a great choice for travelers without a car.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating, allowing me to check in early and even upgrading my room. the place was always kept clean, with plenty of spaces to relax in, like the cozy lounge with a fireplace and the sunny sunroom. the location was perfect, centrally located and close to various activities in the area. Plus, there were plenty of options for chilling out and meeting new people.

Honestly, I couldn't find anything to dislike about this place. Everything was fantastic, from the friendly staff to the clean and comfortable rooms.

There were a couple of aspects that could have been improved during my stay. the plumbing system in the hotel was quite noisy, which disturbed my sleep on the first night.

Had to use a shared bathroom on another level because there weren't enough guests on my level. Waited a long time for the only working shower, which only had a dribble of hot water.
