This hotel is conveniently located just a short walk down the hill from the town center, making it a great base for exploring Matlock. The beautiful landscaped garden is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, complete with homemade biscuits or cakes. The rooms are clean and well-furnished, and the attention to detail is evident with the homemade preserves at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, there is a great variety of choices available, including the delicious Stilton crumbed mushrooms.

We loved the cozy twin room with tea and coffee facilities, as well as the thoughtful detail of flapjacks and a good map of the area. The breakfast exceeded our expectations with a wide variety of options including fresh fruit, homemade jams, a delicious English breakfast, and even Eggs Benedict. As young families, we appreciated the clean and comfortable accommodations.

This hotel is an absolute gem in the heart of a stunning countryside. The location couldn't be better, just a stone's throw away from the main road with plenty of restaurants, bars, and facilities to explore. The rooms are situated at the front of the house, offering a lovely view and are so clean and cosy with all the necessary amenities. The attention to detail is commendable, from homemade biscuits or cakes waiting for you in the room to hooks for towels and a place for soap in the shower. The breakfast provided is a culinary delight, with a wide variety of fresh fruit and chef-cooked options that exceeded our expectations. The service and staff were wonderful, making us feel welcome and ensuring a fantastic stay.

absolutely loved our stay here at ellen house bed and breakfast in matlock. anne and john were incredibly welcoming, the room was beautifully decorated and clean, and the breakfast was exceptional with delicious stilton-topped mushrooms. the homemade biscuits and tea selection were a lovely touch. would definitely stay again!

Parking was a challenge.

The location was ideal, just a short walk from the town and facilities but extremely quiet. The rooms were nicely furnished with a King Size bed, tea & freshly ground coffee, and a jar of homemade cookies. The breakfast was exceptional, with delicious options like poached apples and homemade jams.

During our Easter weekend stay, we enjoyed the comfortable room and delicious breakfast. the bed was great for a good night's rest after a long day exploring. the location was close to some of the main attractions in the area, making it easy to get around. We appreciated the homemade treats left in our room.

The parking situation was not ideal as we had to park on a hill. the shower pressure was a bit low, making for an underwhelming morning routine.
