Lovely quiet, rural location. Delicious made-to-order cooked breakfasts, with piping hot food. Fantastic bacon, the best we had all week. Great pub meals in the evening with a good local crowd. Friendly staff throughout. Beautiful area perfect for fell walks and the Ulleswater Way. Just a short drive to Pooley Bridge Lake Steamer. A real country inn, with farm smells and animals welcomed in the bar. Gave us peace and space, didn't want to leave.

The inn is conveniently located near major road networks, making it easily accessible for backpackers. It is situated on the edge of the Lake District, providing a tranquil atmosphere and beautiful scenery. Additionally, being next door to a milking farm adds a unique rural charm to the surroundings.

Some guests have mentioned that the bathroom in one of the rooms looked tired and could benefit from renovation.

Our stay at the Punchbowl Inn in Askham was beyond expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home and welcomed. The room, "Ill Bell" room 1, was incredibly comfortable with modern amenities, including a stunning bathroom. Despite being a 17th-century inn, the Punchbowl has managed to perfectly blend history with modern comforts. The food at the inn was outstanding, with locally sourced ingredients and a menu that impressed us both nights. The Punchbowl Inn also provided us with a great base for exploring the beautiful Lake District.

The room was on the smaller side, but still clean and well-maintained. We also found that the breakfast selection lacked variety, with limited options beyond the traditional fry-up.

The room was a bit chilly when I arrived, but the staff quickly turned on the heating and even provided a convector heater for extra warmth. The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, especially the bacon. The pub meal in the evening was also top-notch. The location is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a getaway. I would highly recommend this inn.

I had a delightful stay at The Punchbowl Inn, a charming hotel in a lovely surrounding village. Despite missing my confirmation email, I received a warm welcome and my request for an extra warm duvet was met immediately. The room was clean and warm, and I had the most comfortable hotel night ever after a relaxing bath and watching a film. The breakfast was delicious, accompanied by great music and a spirited team. I loved the larger tea cups and cannot wait to return for a holiday stay. Definitely excellent value for money!

We stayed at a lovely country inn for New Year's Eve. the food was delicious, portions were generous, and the drinks were amazing! the staff was friendly, welcoming and hospitable, making our stay a memorable one. the location was also great, surrounded by beautiful countryside and picturesque views. We especially enjoyed the cozy and warm bedrooms, perfect for a cold winter night.

That our room wasn't very spacious, and the coffee at breakfast could have been better. However, this was a minor issue compared to the overall experience and value for money.

This hotel is situated in a beautiful village near the Lowther River on the edge of the Lake District, making it the perfect location for long countryside walks with our dog. The menu at the pub was good, and we enjoyed the huge portions of fish and chips for dinner. The bedrooms were clean and of a good standard, with all the required facilities and a table or desk in the room.
