The Gables provided amazing views over Matlock and had comfortable rooms. The hosts, Sue and John, were welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast options were enjoyable, with both cooked and continental choices. I highly recommend this place to stay in Matlock.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel as it exceeded my expectations in many ways. the location was absolutely stunning, perched high in the hills, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with beautiful bathroom facilities and a very comfortable bed. The attention to detail was impressive, from the fresh eggs sourced locally for breakfast to the little touches like tea or coffee and fresh juice. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to cater to our needs and provide us with valuable local knowledge. In terms of value for money, I couldn't fault it. This hotel truly offers a fantastic experience at a reasonable price.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with well-presented bathrooms. The breakfast offers a great selection using fresh produce, including fresh apple juice.

The thin walls between rooms can result in noise disturbance from neighboring guests.

We had a wonderful stay in a cozy and spacious room with amazing views over the valley. The bathroom was stunning, with a freestanding bath and a double shower. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel welcome, even offering us tea and cake upon arrival. The breakfast, made from locally sourced produce, was delicious. The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding area, with nice walks to Matlock Bath and a local pub down a steep hill.

Although the room was beautifully decorated, the mattress was a bit too soft for our liking.

The road leading up to the hotel was quite steep and narrow, which could be challenging for those not comfortable with driving in such conditions. However, plans to widen the access are underway, so this issue should be resolved in the future.
