The location near the castle and cathedral was ideal, with a striking old chapel architecture enhancing the experience. Breakfast options included delicious croissants delivered to the room or a superb spread at the tea room. I chose the latter, enjoying the high stained glass windows as a backdrop. The room was spacious and well-appointed, with quality fittings and a large en-suite bathroom, making for a comfortable stay. However, access may be challenging due to steps and flagstone pathways, which can be slippery in wet conditions.

but there were some severe steps leading to the bathroom, which were kinda hazardous at night. the bed was super comfy, and the bathroom was beautiful! parking was easy with an automatic gate. the breakfast had just a croissant and yogurt, but was decent.

The location was perfect. just a stroll from the cathedral and castle. Staff were super friendly and helped with parking. Room was well-furnished, had a great coffee machine, and was warm with plenty of hot water.

Waking up to the aroma of warm croissants left at our door was the highlight of our mornings. The staff were gracious, and the location was prime, only a short stroll to both the castle and cathedral.

The only downside was the absence of a shower in our suite, which made for a tricky bathing experience. Additionally, a larger supply of water in the room would have been appreciated after our long walks.

During my stay, I encountered several annoyances that affected my experience. The shower head was dusty, and the finish of the room could have been better, with some chipped paintwork that was less than impressive. Additionally, encountering a lack of options for breakfast, like only receiving tired croissants without any jam or yogurt, left me feeling unsatisfied.

Comfortable bed, great wi-fi, but burnt croissants were disappointing. Parking is a plus.

We loved the master bedroom—it was exquisite with gorgeous decor! The location is spot on, just a hop away from lovely shops and the cathedral. So elegant and comfy, it made our stay quite special.

Sadly, the room was so hot we considered starting a sauna business! Let's just say, sleeping was more like an extreme sport than a luxury.

the location of old palace lodge is fantastic, right in the heart of the cathedral quarter, literally just off steep hill. the warm croissants each morning were a delightful touch, making breakfast a highlight! everything was clean and comfortable, and the unique charm of the building really added to our stay.
