Good location for visiting Durham and Newcastle. Friendly and helpful owner/manager. Dog-friendly hotel with forgiving and understanding staff. Great community feeling.

The value for money at Royal Oak was great, with a basic but comfortable room that had everything we needed. The location was perfect, surrounded by beautiful countryside, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a well-equipped bathroom. the breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. the location was ideal, close to Durham and surrounding areas, making it easy to explore the city and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

The fittings in the room were slightly worn, but it didn't affect our overall comfort. the hot water in the sink was not working properly, but the shower made up for it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Oak. the friendly landlord and landlady made us feel right at home, and it was great to be able to enjoy a drink in the evening without worrying about driving. the countryside surrounding the inn is absolutely lovely, and we especially enjoyed exploring the nearby country park, which is situated on the site of an old brickworks. Our room was spacious and had a fantastic view overlooking the playing field and woods. the bed was incredibly comfortable, and we appreciated being able to control the temperature to our liking. the breakfast at the inn was delicious, with a wide variety of choices available. the atmosphere was warm and friendly, and we couldn't have asked for a better stay.

This hotel was great for our family stop. The rooms were clean and comfortable with excellent storage. The huge double bed and nice wide bunk beds had very comfortable mattresses and pillows. The location was fantastic, with easy access to places like Beamish museum, Durham, and Gateshead. The stunning coastlines were just a 30-minute drive away. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice and freshly cooked items delivered quickly at the time requested.

No complaints, everything was perfect and peaceful with no noise of traffic.

For the price we paid, the value was outstanding. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed. The location was great for exploring the beautiful countryside, especially for dog owners like us. The staff at this family-run pub B&B were incredibly friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home.
