The location was ideal, with easy access to a beautiful beach on Grasmere lake and hiking trails. The building had lots of character, including a beautiful central living room and period details. The staff were helpful, and there were great kitchen facilities and a cozy common room. As an adult traveler, I appreciated that it was quiet and not crowded with school children. With its isolated location, it would be perfect for hiking.

We had a fantastic stay at this remote hostel nestled in a forest with breathtaking views and beautiful gardens. the location was perfect, with great proximity to Grasmere and Loughrigg. the peaceful atmosphere and low light pollution made for a fantastic night sky view. the hostel staff were friendly and helpful, creating a pleasant and relaxed ambiance. the building, although in need of some updating on the outside, was old and beautiful on the inside. the drying room was a great feature, allowing us to dry our wet clothes without wrinkling them. a memorable experience.
