I walked in with no reservation and left with a smile. The lodge I initially booked turned out to be a disappointment, but thankfully John Lopez at the front desk of Aspen Hotel came to the rescue. He went above and beyond to accommodate us, even helping me store my freshly caught fish in their walk-in freezer. The south side of the building provided a peaceful stay, with a great river walk just behind the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location provides easy access to the river and tourist attractions. Front desk receptionist Emily was friendly. the pool was calm with few guests. Laundry room was convenient and reasonably priced. Boardwalk along the water and nearby fairgrounds added to the experience.

This hotel was a very convenient stop on our journey from Homer to Anchorage. After a long day in Homer, we were pleased to find a clean room and friendly front desk staff at Aspen. The small kitchen in the room would be great for longer stays. Despite being close to the main Sterling Highway, there was very little traffic noise in our room. We appreciated the convenient location near supermarkets and popular fast food chains.

The mattress was quite uncomfortable. It had an old, fashioned springy feel that didn't provide the best night's sleep.
