During my transit stay at Chancellor Hotel on Union Square, I was impressed by the convenient location just a block away from the vibrant Union Square, offering easy access to theaters, shopping, and restaurants. The sleek, automated BART people mover to the Coliseum BART station from the nearby Oakland International Airport provided a hassle-free transportation option during my stay.

One minor inconvenience was the lack of air conditioning in the room, which was slightly disappointing.

Great location, right off Union Square with easy access to bus and tram stops. Free tea and coffee, reasonable prices at the small bar. Comfortable beds with two doonas for different temperatures. Characterful older hotel with the ability to open windows. Friendly staff who offer alternative accommodation if needed.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location was perfect, right in downtown and opposite a convenience store. It was in a good area at Union Square, with Saks fifth Avenue nearby and a billboard sign on the next building. The staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The whole hotel was clean and the facilities were great. We also loved the complimentary breakfast and the fresh fruit, cookies, and coffee available in the lobby. Transportation was easy with the Powell St. Cable-Car line right outside.
