The outside looked a bit worn down, sitting on that busy Portrush Road with construction of a new Aldi supermarket happening right next door. I probably wouldn’t have picked the place just based on that, but don’t let it fool you—the rooms were quiet and surprisingly clean! The air conditioning worked well, which was great because it got quite warm. The beds were comfortable; I actually had a decent night's sleep, which is always a win. The shared kitchen was a bit basic, though. I could’ve used more cooking utensils and maybe a little more upkeep, but I get that it was a busy new year period. it would’ve been nice to have an electric kettle in the room for tea or instant coffee. There was a restaurant next door, Chachi's, that served decent Mexican food. It wasn’t exactly authentic, but it hit the spot for us, with a good variety that satisfied the families' tastes. Now, on the downside, when I first arrived, the reception staff seemed a bit uninterested. It took ages to get someone to help me check in, and then they were on the phone while trying to serve me! Not the best first impression. The room, while overall clean, had some issues—like a big spill up the wall, sticky furniture, and an empty fridge. No milk for coffee either, which I missed! Communication around room service was a little rocky. I had someone show up to clean when I still needed time to get ready. It was a bit awkward trying to explain that we weren't checking out; I guess we could’ve used that “do not disturb” sign earlier on. I did notice some maintenance problems—the bathroom tap leaked constantly, and there seemed to be a weird electrical situation with exposed bits hanging out. That felt a bit unsafe. Oh, and the courtyard outside could really use some cozy garden furniture—we had no place to sit outside, which was a bummer because it looked like it could be nice. I really liked the location because it was conveniently close to the bus routes into central Adelaide, making exploring super easy. And the staff, once I got past the initial check-in drama, were really friendly and helpful throughout my visit. It didn’t feel like a luxury hotel, but it fit my needs for that short trip. With a little TLC, this place could be so much better. I definitely think they should put some effort into doing some renovations and a deeper clean. Just my thoughts!
