Great value for the money, spacious room with a private hot spring bath, stunning hilltop location, friendly and attentive staff at the hotel.

The breakfast could use more variety in the menu.

We sought a ryokan for private in-room onsens. Found the perfect spot with stunning views. Meals were delightful, staff accommodating. Shuttle services to and from the train station were a relief. Lovely outdoor spa with a serene hillside setting and fun, customized kids' meals, making our stay enjoyable.

Private onsen and exceptional meals

I was a bit skeptical about staying at Aura Tachibana after a busy few days in Tokyo, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. The tranquil and serene atmosphere allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture. The highlight of my stay was the private onsen on the balcony of my western/Japanese family room, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. The meals served at the hotel were exceptional, with each course intricately prepared and beautifully presented. I have to mention Juri, our attendant, who went above and beyond to make our dining experience unforgettable. She not only set the stage perfectly but also introduced me to new and delicious dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful, even going out of their way to pre-book a cab for our early check-out. I also appreciated the complimentary shuttle service to explore Hakone. I had a great time at Aura Tachibana, and I highly recommend it for a peaceful getaway and the chance to indulge in amazing food and private onsen experiences.

The location of the hotel was superb, being on a hillside with stunning views of the surrounding area. It was very convenient as it was very close to the bus stop, making it easy to explore the nearby attractions. the smaller tower in the hotel provided cozy and comfortable rooms with modern facilities, including a private bathroom. The service was impeccable, and the staff spoke excellent English. The breakfast offered a wide array of delicious Japanese dishes, satisfying even the most discerning of palates.

The view from our room was breathtaking, and the private onsen on the balcony made the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. the staff was superb, always willing to help and provided excellent service. the traditional Japanese Kaiseki meals were lovely, a real treat for the taste buds.

While the hotel was visually stunning, the rooms felt slightly dated with random lamps on the floor and dim lighting in the hallways. We also had some confusion with respects to food allergies and requests, and it would have been helpful to have clearer communication from the staff to ensure that our needs were met.
