Felt like visiting family, nothing to complain about.

As vegetarians and vegans, we appreciated the variety of vegetarian-friendly menu options offered during our stay. The hotel staff was accommodating and understanding of our dietary preferences. The onsen, or hot spring bath, provided a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The location of the hotel was ideal, with easy access to the old town, morning market, and jinya. The shuttle service provided by the hotel was a convenient bonus.

I had a wonderful stay at Honjin Hiranoya Annex. the hosts were attentive and delivered the authentic Japanese experience I was after. They even arranged for a chauffer to take us to 'the Alice' for a delicious French meal. the staff at the ryokan were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. the room was comfortable and the traditional Japanese meals provided were delicious. the location by the river offered a lovely view, and the onsens were a relaxing experience. it was a fun and memorable stay.

The value for money at this hotel was excellent! The room was spacious and had a beautiful view over the city and river. The location was perfect, with the main walking street and popular restaurants just across the red bridge. They even prepared special clothes for us to wear within and outside the hotel based on our heights, making our stay hassle-free.

It is also conveniently situated near old town shops and the train station. The friendly staff provides impeccable service, and the traditional meal served in the room is both atmospheric and memorable. Additionally, the rooms offer a beautiful view of the river, and the onsen helps guests relax after a long day of exploring. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to and from the train station.

Some guests have mentioned that the rooms can be a bit small compared to other hotels, and the soundproofing could be improved as noise from the nearby river can be heard at night.

As a tourist, I absolutely loved the traditional ryokan experience at this hotel. The dinner served in our room was excellent and the onsen next door was a highpoint of our trip. The river view from our room was amazing and the sound of water was so relaxing. The hotel's location was excellent, right in downtown Takayama. The free shuttle service to and from the train station was convenient. a professionally run hotel with great Japanese food and friendly staff.

The food for breakfast could have been better.

We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service at Honjin Hiranoya Annex. The staff were warm and accommodating, greeting us with a taiko drum. Our room had a great view of the nearby river and the dinner served in the room was exceptional. Despite a slight odor in the bathroom, everything else was wonderful. The location is superb, close to attractions and the provided shuttle was a bonus. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel offered free pick up and drop off from the bus and train station, which was convenient for us. We also enjoyed the clean and well-stocked onsen, which gave us some relaxation time during our busy city break. the afternoon tea service was lovely and gave us a taste of traditional Japanese culture. the hotel's location was great, as it was located just a few minutes' walk from the main streets with shops and restaurants.

the cutlery used felt cheap and disposable, with plastic bowls and plates and bamboo chopsticks, which detracted from the overall experience. While the woman serving us was pleasant, the language barrier made communication difficult at times.

The luxurious amenities provided at this hotel were exceptional. the full body massage was exactly what I needed after a long day of sightseeing. the hot spring bath was a peaceful sanctuary, with perfect temperature and peaceful atmosphere. Public Bath had everything needed and plenty of space to relax. the room advantages were exclusive and beautifully designed. Breakfast had a great variety and met my dietary needs perfectly. the private facilities were a treat to indulge in. the location advantages were a dreamy scenery and highly convenient for exploring the town.

The only minor issue was the noise level in my room. the window was not sound-proof enough and I could hear outside noise clearly.
