had a fantastic time in yamanouchi, exceeded expectations at a cozy ryokan. welcoming staff provided shuttle to private hot spring & snow monkeys. delicious breakfast, great price. highly recommend for a fun mountain experience!

Our stay at Shibu Onsen Koishiya Ryokan was absolutely fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. We were picked up and dropped off at the train station, and they even took us to the famous Snow Monkey Park. The traditional ryokan atmosphere was charming and authentic. The room was spacious and the tatami mat beds were incredibly comfortable. The food at the hotel was delicious, especially the french toast and local apple juice. We also had the opportunity to book a private onsen nearby, which was incredibly relaxing. The location was perfect, with easy access to the monkey park and other attractions. The nine public onsens were a great addition. Despite a few minor inconveniences like the women's bathroom being downstairs and the slippers not staying on my feet, these did not detract from the overall experience. I would highly recommend this hotel.

As someone who loves to be in direct touch with nature, I absolutely adored my stay at this ryokan. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and provided excellent service. From the transportation to and from the train station, to the shuttle to the monkey park, everything was well taken care of. The restaurant offered delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the quality of the yukatas provided was exceptional. The location of the ryokan was perfect, within walking distance to all the onsens in the town. The staff's attention to detail and their ability to communicate in English was greatly appreciated. They even gave us valuable tips about Japanese culture and life in Nagano.

We had a lovely stay in a historical ryokan right in the middle of Shibu Onsen. The hotel, since 1928, was nicely decorated and had a friendly and helpful staff. They provided free towels and kimono, and there was a free shuttle to the beautiful onsen. The restaurant served delicious meals and the bunk bed in the dorm was comfortable. It was definitely good value for money. I highly recommend this ryokan.
