We loved the open air bathtub and the beautiful forest location. The hotel shuttle and local bus made transportation easy. We enjoyed seeing deer and Japanese martens from our deck. The evening beer and wine were a nice touch. The dinner was amazing with a multi-course work of art. The wait staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Hotel Shikisai for 2 nights and enjoyed a delightful Japanese experience. The rooms were traditional with tatami mats and futon mattresses, and the onsen had separate bathing areas with indoor and outdoor tubs. The staff were responsive to our dietary preferences, and the kaiseki meals were wonderful and unique. The hotel is conveniently located near Chuzenji and hiking trails, making it a great retreat. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and artistically presented, and the spacious tatami rooms were clean and comfortable.

I recently stayed at a hotel in Nikko for three nights for a relaxing getaway. The hotel provided daily shuttle service to and from Nikko station, making it convenient for exploring the area. The onsen facilities were beautiful and I even had the onsen all to myself one morning. The traditional Japanese meals provided were accommodating to my vegan diet. The staff, although limited in English, were very friendly and provided excellent service. The large room and serene atmosphere added to the overall enjoyable experience. I also had the opportunity to see monkeys while in the onsen, which was a unique and memorable experience.

Delicious and well-presented food with a good variety of dishes. Clean and cozy atmosphere. Helpful staff. The onsen was an amazing experience.

The meals at the hotel were outstanding, both for dinner and breakfast. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, making our stay more enjoyable. The room we stayed in was great, with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The outdoor baths at the hotel were very relaxing, especially after a long day of exploring.

The location of the hotel was a bit inconvenient, as it was far from the main attractions in the city. We had to rely on shuttle buses or taxis to get around, which limited our flexibility and added extra expenses to our trip.

This place is located in a beautiful and tranquil location. It is in a smaller town surrounded by a forest, which makes it really relaxing. The service shuttle service is a great amenity and the staff is friendly & efficient. We appreciated the young waiter that helped to serve the meal during our stay. The hotel also has a leisure/TV room and a hot spring bath, including an open-air bath, which were very enjoyable. The facilities include free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, and a 24-hour reception.

We got great value for our money at Hotel Shikisai in Nikko. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with a modern toilet and separate wet room. The location was peaceful and next to Lake Chuzenji, offering a calm and natural setting. The staff were friendly and helpful, and many spoke decent English. Wearing the yukata provided by the hotel added to the authentic experience.

Breakfast delights could have been more varied.

The location was beautiful, nestled in a quiet and wild area, and it was very close to Ryuzu waterfalls and Yumoto onsen. The hotel facilities were excellent, including a cozy onsen with both indoor and outdoor pools. The cleanliness of the onsen was spotless and the staff provided great service. The breakfast was a feast, leaving us too full for lunch. The staff at the hotel were incredibly kind and accommodating, adding to the overall positive experience.

Quiet countryside setting, fresh mountain air, pretty views of lake and mountains. Helpful driver, delicious Kaiseki meals, filled with local and non-local specialties. Scenic drive to hotel, relaxing open-air bath, accommodating staff for allergies, wonderful Japanese breakfast.
