The location of this hotel is absolutely spectacular, sitting next to a large creek with a steep hillside of trees directly opposite and behind the hotel. It is beautiful and serene, tucked away in the mountains. The rooms are wonderful old-style, spacious, and with views over the nearby river. They are clean and beautiful with amazing views of the river, a bridge, and a big beautiful cherry blossom tree. The breakfast is traditional Japanese, with many well-presented small dishes, and is fairly tasty to boot.

All was fine; nothing to complain about.

We had an incredible time at this beautiful, riverside ryokan nestled in the mountains. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the dinner served riverside was delicious. We loved the peacefulness of the location and the opportunity to explore the local temples without the crowds of Tokyo or Kyoto. As solo female travelers, we felt safe and well taken care of. a perfect place to experience traditional Japanese hospitality.

This was one of the best places I stayed during my travels. I wanted to experience traditional Japanese hospitality in a real ryokan, and Takao Kanko Hotel delivered. The location, nestled in the mountains and surrounded by temples and sakura blossoms, was a slice of paradise. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, making me feel right at home. The rooms were authentically Japanese, with tatami floors and a futon bed. The dinner and breakfast provided were delicious and plentiful. an authentic and memorable experience.

My stay at this hotel in the mountains of Kyoto was absolutely breathtaking. The location in the majestic hills outside Kyoto, nestled into a valley right by the Jingo-ji temple, was simply enchanting. The rooms in Japanese style, with tatami and futon, added to the authentic experience and created a cozy atmosphere.

I had the most amazing time during my city trip to this hotel! the location was absolutely stunning, surrounded by peaceful forests and beautiful temples. the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing free pick up and drop off services from the train station and even arranging for baggage storage and delivery. I also loved the fact that they had a good selection of vegetarian options for dinner and that they went out of their way to accommodate special requests.

There were a few minor drawbacks during my stay. the in-room bathroom was a bit dated and the shower didn't work properly.

Despite being a bit far from the city center, the hotel provided shuttle services and even arranged a pick-up from the bus stop. We felt pampered throughout our entire stay. I highly recommend Takao Kanko for its exceptional hospitality and stunning location.

The hotel offered a Christmas dinner, which was quite tasty, with a variety of options. the rooftop view of the city skyline and the nearby lake was stunning and the location was near some good hiking trails. the staff were friendly and always willing to help. It was a nice touch to have tea and coffee available in the lobby throughout the day.

The rooms smelled a bit musty and the decor was outdated, making the place seem a bit drab. the shuttle service had limited hours and some drivers didn't speak English, making transportation difficult at times.

We had an amazing stay at Takao Kanko. The staff warmly welcomed us and arranged a private onsen slot and a delicious traditional Kyoto-style dinner. They even helped us with our luggage transfer, dropped us off at the train station, and drove us to the walking trail for temple sightseeing. The room was clean with a beautiful view of the river and cherry blossom tree. The traditional tatami mat floors and sliding screen doors added to the authentic experience. The public bath was a highlight, and breakfast was a delight with various Japanese dishes. The remote location allowed us to explore nature and temples easily. Takao Kanko exceeded our expectations and deserves a 9+ rating. We couldn't be happier with our choice.
