All Pros, no Cons

The resort brims with lush grounds, unlimited swimming options, and fantastic buffet selections. I was impressed with all the available family activities, along with attentive and cheerful staff that made every moment worthwhile.

I experienced a few hiccups with my room service, which lacked thoroughness on several occasions. There was also a slow check-in process that made the initial welcome a bit less inviting.

this resort is just okay, the food quality is disgraceful and completely inedible at times. also, my suite was tiny, and don’t even get me started on the humidity, it was unbearable. if only i had recived some sort of free room upgrade after all that hassle, i might've considered giving a better review, but alas, here we are.

Them big clean pools had me feelin' like a kid again. The room was spacious, real nice with a view of the beautiful sea. Food was decent but I reckon they could spice things up a bit, if ya know what I mean. The folks here were all friendly, just a tad slow at times with service. Overall, a fine place to kick back and relax!

The grounds were large, offering plenty of activities. I enjoyed the pool entertainment each day. However, getting a drink was a challenge, as service was slow. I found it frustrating that reservations were hard to come by for the restaurants. The buffet was poor quality, including hard bread and soggy fruit. I wished for something simpler like plain pasta. Trying the hibachi was fun, but overall the dining experience was lacking. I'm used to better from my travels across Europe.

Our family vacation at Barcelo Maya Colonial was delightful, akin to discovering an all-you-can-eat buffet at an amusement park. With a toddler in tow, the spacious resort landscape was a dream. The Barcy Club kept our little one entertained while the adults enjoyed some peace. The pools were magnificent and felt like our own private oasis. Sarahi, our server, went above and beyond, arranging a special fried fish for us that wasn’t even on offer that day! If that doesn’t deserve a high five, I don’t know what does. The nighttime shows were excellent, too, and the beach offered great snorkeling opportunities. We're definitely planning a return trip!

barcelo maya colonial has amazing beach access right in front of the palace, and the pools are fantastic. the drink service was quick and friendly, making it a fun spot for families. i also enjoyed the spectacular gym with state-of-the-art equipment available for a great workout.

I had a wonderful time soaking up the sun and enjoying the clean, bright rooms while staying at this resort, which is perfectly positioned just under a kilometer from the breathtaking Garden of Eden cenote and a short stroll to the beach for some fantastic body surfing.
